Ip is back at it with a new compilation of iconic moments from Yo! MTV Raps. For this week’s installment of our Video Vault series, he dug up some crispy clips of some very memorable performances from the official MTV archives. Check out these “Live Fridays” segments with Big Daddy Kane, Wu-Tang Clan, Redman and Del the Funky Homosapien and relive the era. A Tribe Called Quest’s performance of “Check The Rhime” and KRS-One’s live rendition of “Outta Here” where everything at the time.

Here’s a short documentary on MTV’s iconic Yo! MTV Raps commissioned by Stüssy for the release of their new Raps inspired collection. Part 2, about the show’s influence on fashion is particularly interesting.

In conjunction with the release of the Stüssy/Yo! MTV Raps collection, Stüssy produced a 2-part documentary entitled We Were All Watching. Part 1, The Importance of Yo! MTV Raps, takes a look at the history of MTV’s groundbreaking music program, and Part 2, Fashion in the Golden Age of Hip Hop examines the trends and styles from that era and how they changed the world.
