Ricky Dubs – The Señor Dubs EP

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

Chicago based producer Ricky Dubs drops his new project, The Señor Dubs EP. Born and Raised in the Chi, Dubs was also heavily influenced by NYC and you can hear it in his production style. The 8-track EP features a few notable guests including Roc Marciano, YC The Cynic, Mick Jenkins, Maffew Ragazino and Nitty Scott, MC.

Dubs explains:

Growing up in Chicago I was subjected to immense amounts of blues, jazz and rock n’ roll with a touch of soul and gospel sprinkled on top. I initially wanted to make a so called “Modern Day Blues Album” but figured why stick to just one genre if I could make the whole project cohesive using different sounds that I grew up with. That’s when The Señor Dubs Ep was born. All the Mc’s are either from Chicago or New York, that’s it. Not to take anything away from the west coast, because there are a ton of artist that I would love to work with, but I sort of adopted New York as my home away from home and as I stated earlier, I wanted to stick to my roots. My goal was to make the connection between the two cities and pair up artists from both sides to come together as one.
