Will Roush – Where Roush Happens

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

where-roush2

Well, with the NBA Playoffs finally coming to a close, and Game 1 of the finals approaching this Thursday, Will hit the studio with Miami-based producers The Fliptones (Lil Wayne, Birdman, Donnie Klang, etc.) to put a little urban twist on Carly Commando’s “Everyday,” which, if you don’t already know, is the beautiful piano composition that backs the NBA’s “Where Amazing Happens” commercials.

Doesn’t matter what team he’s riding with (Is it Aftermath? G-Unit? Roc Nation? Def Jam? Grand Hustle?) or he’s rooting for (Lakers in 6) Roush happens everywhere! So he even poked a little photoshop fun at himself.

Will’s mixtape Know My Name Vol. 1, presented by DJ Skee & DJ Whoo Kid will be dropping very very very soon.

In the midst of his time travels, learning about hip-hop history, Will arrives in Philly circa 1987. He mistakenly winds up in the studio with none other than DJ Jazzy Jeff, and cuts his own version of “Parents Just Don’t Understand.”

Again, the illustrations are by Profesone, and directed by legendary hip-hop visual artist Skam 2, who was the creative force behind artwork for Eminem’s The Slim Shady LP and A Tribe Called Quest’s Beats, Rhymes and Life, among others. The video was written and produced by Matt Fingaz.

These animated comic book shorts will be accompanying Will’s upcoming DJ Skee/DJ Whoo Kid-assisted mixtape, Know My Name Vol. 1, as digital downloads. .

Episode two of Will Roush’s illustrated comic book series promoting his upcoming mixtape, Know My Name Vol.1, hosted by DJ Skee & Whoo Kid.

Picks up in middle of the mixtape, where Will’s already time-traveled to Compton to check Game, and Atlanta to hang with Outkast. He’s overwhelmed by all the hip-hop history he’s experiencing and he’s calling Biggie for help. Biggie sends Will to see his man Jay-Z from Marcy Projects.

The first episode of the animated comic book shorts that will be accompanying Will’s upcoming DJ Skee/DJ Whoo Kid-assisted mixtape, Know My Name Vol. 1. This is a skit that appears on the mixtape, brought to life via comic book illustration, which will be downloadable with the tape when it’s released. The illustrations are by an amazing artist out of Texas named Profesone, and directed by legendary hip-hop visual artist Skam 2, who was the creative force behind artwork for Eminem’s The Slim Shady LP and A Tribe Called Quest’s Beats, Rhymes and Life, among others.

Episode 1 is the intro to Will’s mixtape, which finds him traveling back through time to learn all about hip-hop history. He’s guided by a clone of The Notorious BIG who visits him from the future.

Here’s the Know The Ledge freestyle from the video (will also be on the mixtape):
