For almost three years, Chuck and Mikey of The Cool Kids have been hard at work on their upcoming album When Fish Ride Bicycles (via Green Label Sound). While they were down in Miami recording at South Beach Studios, The Cool Kids had a chance to sit down and discuss the album and the extensive relationship with Green Label Sound which dates back to the release of their very first single Delivery Man back in 2008. This is the second portion of the interview video series so be sure to catch the first segment right here as well. When Fish Ride Bicycles is available exclusively on iTunes on July 12, 2011.

Earlier this year, The Cool Kids flew down to South Beach to record with the legendary Pharrell Williams. A little backstory on the label:

Back in August of 2008, Mountain Dew launched their record label, Green Label Sound, by releasing an exclusive single, “Delivery Man” by The Cool Kids. Two and a half years later, When Fish Ride Bicycles will be the first full-length release for Green Label Sound via the iTunes Music Store.

The Cool Kids – Bundle Up

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Earlier this week, Billboard reported that The Cool Kids would be releasing their long-awaited When Fish Ride Bicycles this Spring on Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound imprint, and here is the first single from the album.

But now the PepsiCo soda brand is preparing to launch an iTunes storefront that will allow listeners to purchase music from certain Green Label Sound artists — and Mountain Dew is waiving the usual label share of the revenue, leaving all income, minus iTunes processing fees, to the artists.

Sweet deal.
