This companion piece to his acclaimed Broadway play Hamilton and it’s official soundtrack features contributions from such esteemed guests as Nas, The Roots, Chance The Rapper, Queen Latifah, !llmind, Joell Ortiz, Jill Scott and several others. I don’t know how well this will sound as a straight play through for people who haven’t seen the play or aren’t at all familiar, but it has certainly got some gems. Lin-Manuel Miranda Taps Nas, Chance The Rapper for Hamilton Mixtape

Thursday, November 3rd, 2016

Lin-Manuel Miranda is basically a musical genius, having taken the story of one of America’s founding fathers and turned it into a Rap-based musical that managed to not only avoid being corny, but will go down as one of the most acclaimed plays in Broadway history. Today it was announced that the Hamilton inspired mixtape that he was said to be working on with ?uestlove will be available for pre-order tomorrow and he revealed the tracklist. If you’ve seen Hamilton, or any of the TV performances that the cast has put on over the past year (more likely), then you know Miranda is a true student of lyricism. Looking at the tracklist to this mixtape, this project will surely further cement his bona fides, as he has tapped a truly impressive cast of artists to ride with him. The list of guests includes The Roots, Nas, Chance The Rapper, Joell Ortiz, Busta Rhymes, Dave East and Common, and that’s just to name a few.
