Video: Drake’s ALIFE Sessions Performance

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

On the evening of June 14th, I headed down to Rivington Street for this “concert party” that ALIFE was holding for the release of Thank Me Later, where I finally got to meet a bunch of people I speak to frequently through working for this site. Namely Hof from OnSMASH, Miss Info, Emeka from 10Deep, DJ A-Trak, Chace Infinite, Ray from Mighty Healthy, Jake Davis, FluxuryB, and anyone else I forgot.

Thanks to Oliver, Drake, Future and Campos for the hospitality.

After the jump, there’s a deleted scene from last night’s Drake doc where they film him in the studio working on Fireworks, and 40 talks about the night they made “The Calm.”

Drake – Greatness x Still Got It

Monday, June 21st, 2010

A couple of unreleased tracks from the (unauthorized) Thank Me Now mixtape. “Greatness” includes some lines from “Stuntin” off Dedication 3, apparently “Still Got It” is a Kanye West beat (?) and “You Know, You Know,” as you might already know, is a Thank Me Later leftover.

Video: Drake’s Promo For “Thank Me Later”

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Aspire/Young Money/Universal Motown has him do this kinda cheesy promo drop for the album.

Oddly enough, I’m pretty certain to have heard him say something to this effect in the past, that pursuing this music thing might get in the way of leading a normal life or finding “true love,” so it might not be complete bullshit that he’s spewing. It just comes off a bit fabricated in the context of trying to sell an album, which comes out Tuesday by the way.

French Montana – Light Up Freestyle

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

It seems that French is gonna spit on every Jay-Z exclusive Evil Empire gets his hands on – which is fine, I’ve actually gotten used to hearing the drops – but why is he spitting over the fake edited version Splash told us about, this late in the game?
