Lil Wayne Talks Dez Bryant’s Race Comments on UNDISPUTED

Friday, April 21st, 2017

Dez Bryant recently went on an Instagram diatribe about race in America which touched on a number of points, but the gist of which was, that everybody in this country should be able to succeed with hard work and resilience despite whatever obstacles they may face, including racism. If that sounds like a Republican talking point to you, that’s because it most certainly is. And so obviously, when a public figure makes unfortunate comments about race, you want to bring in Lil Wayne for some commentary because he has such a great grasp on the realities of discrimination in this country.

Host Shannon Sharpe had already responded to Dez’s comments last week and he did a great job, but he goes in again in this clip and that’s what really what makes it worth watching. Wayne mumbled for a few minutes about “leading by example” but really didn’t have anything constructive to add to the conversation. Shannon on the other hand, dropped gems about systematic racism, the vastly different experiences of rich Black athletes and everyday African-Americans and the hypocrisy of the current fight against opiate addiction as it compares to the brutal War on Drugs of the 80’s and 90’s.

Continue below for a bonus, off air interview that Wayne and Skip did where they talk about Tha Carter 3 and Skip aplogizes for not going to see Wayne when he was locked up on Rikers and somehow manages to blame the suits at ESPN. They also discuss the recent suicide of former Patriot Aaron Hernandez, the death of Prince and whether or not Wayne has any big career regrets. At around the 13:40 mark, Skip asks Wayne about his recent claim that he’s now signed to Roc Nation and he gives kind of a vague confirmation and heaps praise on Jay Z, who he says just wants to help in any way he can.

Lil Wayne – No Mercy (Undisputed Theme)

Wednesday, September 7th, 2016

Lil Wayne was tapped by Skip Bayless and the folks at his new broadcast home on Fox Sports 1 to record a theme song for Skip’s new hot take platform, Undisputed with Shannon Sharpe. I watched five minutes of that show yesterday and, shocker, it was 5 minutes of Skip vehemently proclaiming that Lebron James is in fact still garbage. So yeah, real groundbreaking stuff there. Why Wayne encourages this guy is beyond me.

Watch a short clip of him performing the new theme below and watch Highly Questionable or His And Hers on ESPN instead.

“I’ve got Lil Wayne and Eminem at the top…I got ’em. I like the old school…”

Why is this a topic on 1st And 10, and what qualifies Skip to comment on any of this? He should come spend some time in the Nah Right comments.
