The trailer for this video dropped before the actual project did.

Says Chace Infinite:

God’s Language is one of my personal favorites off our latest offering, Trials Of The Blackhearted. The formless stream of consciousness, and flow of the song feels powerful and free. This video is equally as powerful and free. Todd Angkasuwan Directed this video and we wanted to do something that would illustrate the lyrics and feel of the music right. I think we came pretty close. I don’t want to explain the concept too much, I will leave that up you. To our fans, sorry for the delay. . . more on the way.

Directed by Todd Angkasuwan.

Self Scientific – Trials Of The Blackhearted EP

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

DJ Khalil and Chace Infinite’s new EP, including features from Talib Kweli, The Game, Krondon, Freddie Gibbs & Big K.R.I.T.

Trials Of The Blackhearted captures the societal angst and confusion of the current times, against a backdrop of menacing, and melodic soundscapes.

In Ancient Kemet they believed the heart was the organ that controlled thought, logic and knowledge. The weighing of the heart, against a feather, was used to determine if people were righteous or wicked during their time on earth. If their heart was heavier than the feather, the Heart was devoured. With the world rapidly changing, and evolving beyond recognition, people are becoming even more desensitized to the conditions we exist in. The most heinous acts are applauded as “interesting” and “entertaining” while genuine acts of love, and justice are shunned. We can sensationalize but we are scared of true emotion, we have more information now than ever before but no one wants to read. The truth is scary, it is easier to escape through our favorite vice, than to deal with the harsh reality of the present. Our hearts are heavy, our hearts are dark, these are the Trials Of The Blackhearted

Video: Self Scientific ft. Freddie Gibbs & Krondon – Peaceful

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

The video is directed by The ICU and explores the historic scene of the 1992 L.A. riot that rocked South Central and includes various footage from the incredibly unjust lynching of Oscar Grant by the Oakland BART police.

Says Chace Infinite:

We support the people’s desire to retaliate, but we also understand that these actions often lead to us destroying the communities we live in. The 1992 Revolt changed the collective conscious of an entire generation, but some the landscape has never recovered from the destruction. The locations used in this video illustrate the decay that exists long after the statement is made. Billions have been spent on the redevelopment of Los Angeles but the areas that were effected most have yet the benefits. We tore this muthafucka up, and they never rebuilt. Who got the last laugh? Fuck The Police, but don’t destroy The Community. Peaceful.

Self Scientific – God’s Language

Monday, March 21st, 2011

there’s no need to compete, i’ve been ordained by the street, to administer the heat, the apostle of modern gosple defying the impossible, opposition is futile, defeat is not possible, my mission is to tackle every ignorant obstacle that stand amongst the people speaking parables like prophets do

DRUMS. Khalil went in and Chace is one of the rawest lyricists doing it today.  Off Self Scientific’s Trials Of The Blackhearted, due out March 29th.

Says Chace:

We aspire to represent a higher sense of self awareness, this message is filtered through reality’s harsh lens. Achieving these aspirations confirms our belief in something greater. Failing to reach these aspirations, causes people to question if something greater is against us. In between our aspirations, and reality, there is language.
