On the streets of the Tri-state, the reputation of the Dean brothers is as well known as it is respected. Dee and Wah, founders of the iconic Ruff Ryders record label that launched the career of DMX and famously rescued The LOX from Puff’s shiny suit campaign, are both shrewd businessmen, but you do not want to test their gangster. In this latest episode of the Combat Jack Show, Joaquin “Waah” Dean sits down with Jack and Premium Pete to recount his extensive  history in both the streets and the industry.

Says Combat:

You think you know the scope of the Ruff Ryders history? You heard all the stories about DMX, Eve, “The L.O.X.” Swizz Beats and the Def Jam takeover? Co-founder Joaquin “Waah” Dean takes the history back to the actual ground zero of Hip Hop with Kool Herc, to the legendary DMX vs Jay Z battle, to taking over the history and more. No shiny suits will be worn during the listening of this episode. Nothing but #BlockWork here b.

via DrJays.com:

The video’s concept, overseen by Ruff Ryders co-founder and CEO Joaquin “Waah” Dean, pays homage to the collective street spirit the Ruff Ryders pioneered in the late 1990s.

The video was shot in different locations, with DMX and Swizz on set in Arizona due to ‘X’s current travel restrictions, and the rest of the crew filmed in New York City.

Ruff Ryders, a record label and management company created by Waah, his brother Dee and their sister Chivon, evolved over the years from a successful artist breeding ground to a fully-fledged movement that includes national bike chapters plus an ultimate fighting division called “Built 4 War”. A new Ruff Ryders album is set to drop in 2010, with individual artist projects also slated for release in the coming year.

My first car was a Benz, so I’m kinda spoiled

Ha ha, this is classic, vintage, Yonkers footage right here. My homie Amaury aka Kem racing, and beating Kiss on the highway back in 1999. Featuring cameos from Eve, Styles P, Spliff Star, etc.

Shout to DJ Delz.
