TSG Documents on Emory Jones

Friday, November 19th, 2010

The Smoking Gun dug up some court documents leading back to last year involving Jay-Z and his friend Emory Jones, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to a cocaine trafficking charge in January 2000. His sentence was eventually cut short by 37 months, but before that happened Jay wrote a letter to the judge essentially saying that Emory was a good and smart person, enough to have a job waiting for him at one of Jay’s companies when he got out of prison.

Another interesting tidbit:

In April, when Jones was released from the federal lockup in Otisville, New York, Carter’s Maybach was reportedly waiting for him at the prison gate.

Usually I wouldn’t bother posting this sort of personal documents, but it’s pretty much a part of popular culture after Jay described this scenario, basically word for word, on “Do U Wanna Ride” and it’s mostly just interesting seeing it come to life.

This is also a great “leak” considering Decoded came out this week.

Started from the crates now I’m sittin on a whole case
Since they got you sittin on that old case
Our dreams is on hold like Tivo
So I can’t wait ’til you get your date
I got some temp plates outside of the gate
