Kendrick Lamar Meets Quincy Jones

Kendrick Lamar recently sat down to pick the brain of the man and the myth, Quincy Jones, for the new issue of Hypetrak magazine. In the behind the scenes clip above, Quincy schools K.Dot on the origins of Rap music, talks about the Thriller sessions with Michael Jackson and speaks on being an early champion of the fusion of Hip-Hop and Jazz that Kendrick continued on To Pimp A Butterfly. Throughout he offers the young MC a number of priceless gems that could only come from an icon with with over 50 years in the game and 27 Grammys on his shelf.

You may have heard that Quincy Jones recently tried to son Yeezy to US Magazine, basically saying that he’s just a glorified rapper who’s name should never be uttered in the same breath as his own (Quincy’s). Here Just adds some perspective. To be fair, Quincy later issued a statement saying his remarks were taken out of context.
