Monday, April 17th, 2017

I saw a Roc Marciano interview pop up on Hot 97’s channel and I knew it had to be Rosenberg. Marci visited Real Late this week to talk about his new album Rosebudd’s Revenge and more. He speaks on his affinity for the city of Los Angeles and how he escapes distractions there, artists he’d like to work with including DOOM, Ghostface and Max B, his respect for Lil B and Young Thug and his thoughts on the new Kendrick Lamar album.

For much more on the creation of Rosebudd’s Revenge check out our special edition In The Lab feature with Roc on the album.

Consequence joins Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds for a special A Tribe Called Quest themed installment of Juan Epstein. He touches on everything from Q-Tip’s guest spot on “Buddy”, to his work on “Groove Is In The Heart”, all the way up to Cons’ extensive presence on Beats, Rhymes And Life and how he found himself in the middle of the Q-Tip vs. Phife static during a conversation at Phife’s crib in Atlanta. It’s a fascinating listen for any big Tribe fan and it provides a bunch of context for some of the group’s most iconic records and their historic split.

“I don’t really even know what a podcast is” – Ciph

Wow, I clearly remember listening to this. #YouWasntThere

We first linked to an episode of #JuanEp in February of 2008, so I want to say this is from some time in late 2007. The early episodes are no longer available on iTunes so Rosenberg decided to re this up for giggles.

After 17 years, Ciph decides to leave Hot 97.

Official statement below:

Effective immediately, Cipha Sounds is no longer with WQHT HOT 97 FM. Cipha Sounds said, “After 17 years, I’m leaving Hot 97. I’m changing my relationship status from ‘it’s complicated’ to ‘single’. It’s been an amazing ride – from intern to weekends to morning show host to fill Angie’s seat in afternoons. Many years of incredible, life-changing experiences and enough amazing memories to last five lifetimes. The next move is already underway and I promise it’s going to be huge.”

Best wishes to the homie Ciph but I think he’ll be ok. I still need my “weekly” Juan Epstein fix from him & Peter though.
