Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Scram talks about getting his break in producing by doing a Pharcyde remix, being introduced to Tragedy Khadafi by Dart from Shady Records and then A&R’ing 2003’s Still Reportin’ album, producing “No, No, No” for Jae Millz, DJ’ing at Greenhouse and how his co-Executive Producer credit on Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II came about.

Chef’s shit is hard, the hip hop critics is dickheads, they rather see Shallah in the yard

Video: Raekwon feat. Method Man, N.O.R.E., Teyana Taylor & Joell Ortiz – New Wu (Version 2)

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

New video, same song, different cameos. YN explains:

In the clip, Raekwon’s shot another video for “New Wu” featuring Method Man and Ghostface Killah. This time around, Dennis couldn’t make it so Noreaga, Teyanna Taylor and Joell Ortiz got their close up’s instead.

So basically since Ghost couldn’t be there to re-rap his verse in another club scene, they got Teyana Taylor throwing her W up. Frankly I don’t mind. This one was also directed by John Colombo, who directed the first version as well as the Carlyle Motor Club commercial.

Video: Raekwon Interview w/ HipHopChronicle

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

In the first part of the interview, Rae talks about why he put Criminology 2 as a buzz record. The Chef tells me he’s in talks with people from Hollywood to do movies and revealed that he’s planning to drop a documentary to coincide with the release of the album. We talk about lyrics in Hip Hop and the importance of it to an emcee like him. He gives his main ingredients to being a dope emcee and having longevity And to end the first part, Rae lists the people and albums that he feels people should study to learn more about Hip Hop.

Props to Sumit. Hit the jump for part 2.

What’s Raekwon doing with these guys? Is there really that many projects dropping now that Green Lantern’s schedule won’t permit anything less fucked up than this?

Update: Nvm, the cypher was on point. Hundred dollas a line.

I was initially referring to the fact that Raekwon had to promote his upcoming album at the same time as DJ Drama’s album that just dropped, but thankfully Alex of Killer Beez hit me with the 6 Degrees of Separation from Raekwon:

Remember, La The Darkman is Wu-Affiliated. Willie The Kid is La’s brother. Raekwon and La are tight. They both live in ATL too.
