As “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…Pt.2″ is one of the top albums this year, of course we had to catch Raekwon at his Europe trip a couple of weeks ago. Before we came to the core of the interview (watch out for pt. 2!), Lex Diamonds stated what he thinks about the high chart entry of “OB4CL2″ and why he felt to owe this album to the fans. But it gets more profound, when Rae describes his experiences from his trip to Sierra Leone.

The Punchbowl Blog caught up with Nas at the Orange Rock Corps concert over in the U.K. and asked him about his new album with Damien Marley and his next solo project. When the interviewer asks him about his FAILure to submit a verse for “Verbal Intercourse 2”, he says that this is the first he’s hearing of it. When she specifically asks him about “Empire State of Mind”, he tells her to move on to the next question. Nevertheless, he goes on to say that Only Bult 4 Cuban Linx 2 and Blueprint 3 are two of his favorite albums right now and cites both as sources of inspiration. He also comments briefly on Kanye at the VMAs, Kelis and being offered the Def Jam presidency. Finally, he mentions Drake, Lil Wayne and Asher Roth as “new” artists that he respects.

OB4CL2 Tracklist + Production Credits + 1st Review

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

So yesterday a tracklist for Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 surfaced, but I didn’t want to touch it until there was some confirmation that it was legit. I figured hey, we’ve waited this long, what’s the rush? Well, that confirmation has come, and it includes production credits. The catch is, that while this listing is genuine, it will not be the final tracklisting, as some tracks will be cut from the project before it hits retail.

But wait it gets deeper. The Hip-Hop Chronicle UK has actually heard the album and has posted the very first review of the project as it exists now. Here, they describe “House of the Flying Daggers”, which is the first single and is scheduled to drop next week.

Starts off with the classic Shaolin fighting sounds. I think to myself, this is a RZA beat. As the upbeat track is in full flow, I’m still thinking this is a RZA beat. I’m completely wrong, its actually a J-Dilla beat.

Already bopping my head, Rae fires some dope rhymes and some swagger “I’ve always been an ill dude”. Ghostface then rolls through and adds some style. Method Man is also featured on this joint. This is the album version, but the single version which will drop next week will have GZA on the hook. Its called “Flying Daggers”

Read their full review right here, and hit the jump for the tracklist.
