TROY – Talk No More

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

FADER premieres the FRAP boy’s new visual with Samuel Olaechea, who’s been consistently delivering my favorite visuals out of Montreal right now. The duo previously worked on “All My Dogs” together, that we premiered a year and a half ago and was then played on OVO Sound Radio about a year ago. Look out for his new EP dropping next month that is ALL flames.

Produced by TROY himself, he also did the beat for “My Drink” for Cliff with the same director of photography.

February Cxld – Ballet (Prod. by Inotchz)

Thursday, February 23rd, 2017

To celebrate his birthday today, and his new namesake which symbolizes what’s usually considered the coldest month of the year, below is February Cxld’s latest single from his upcoming project entitled The Highway (fka Milli Millz). It’s produced by Inotchz, who also produced Roy Woods’ “Dangerous” recently. Boi-1da premiered it in Montreal last June.

“Soul Calling” is the video above and it dropped last year. It was directed by Samuel Olaechea who has done some great work in the last year or so, and who also directed the new video for “Street Gospel” which is the next single from the project that will be dropping next so keep an eye on that as well.

Wasiu – NoToryUs

Monday, October 31st, 2016

Wasiu’s been making noise on various music blogs over the last couple years and bites back at everyone typecasting Canadian artists as simply Toronto knock-offs. Produced by umami boy & Dear Lola.

Check out his other shit on his Soundcloud. I also thought he did a nice job on this spot for Kijiji:

Video: CeasRock – Rocuments Series (Episode 1)

Wednesday, May 4th, 2016

CeasRock’s been putting out some good content lately and it’s not about to stop. We premiered his last project DSGNRZ: The Pattern Tape back in August, from which he dropped “Prodigy” that A-Trak/Simahlak played in their comprehensive Montreal mix for Benji B’s BBC Radio 1 show (listen to it below). This was directed by the good folks at 5 Pound Media. Look out for episode 2 with some more amazing shots from Montreal’s NDG neighborhood.

After the jump, check out the video for the title track off the tape (with illustrations by the homie Nik Brovkin) as well as a video for “Protege X Self_Poortrait”.

Sandhill – Sandhill (Instrumental Tape)

Monday, April 11th, 2016

Sandhill is an Iraqi-Canadian producer from Baghdad via Montreal that I’ve become familiar with over the years through his work with Narcy. The 29 track self-titled beat tape is in remembrance of his late brother and production partner Nawaf “Nofy Fannan” Al-Rufaie.

Sandhill, the beat butcher of Baghdad , and producer/ musical partner to Montreal wordsmith Narcy, drops his self-titled instrumental record in remembrance of his late brother and production partner, Nawaf “Nofy Fannan” Al-Rufaie.

Debuting in the Iraqi-MTLien trio Euphrates in the early 2000s, he currently handles a lot of the production for Arab heavyweights from Shadia Mansour to Omar Offendum, as well as production credits in movies like Fast and the Furious 7 and Telfaz 11 viral sensations.

With Montreal being on the map for producers now more than ever, Sandhill brings a unique eclectic collection of neck crackers and head bangers that travel from. Peep the album here and buy it here.

NR premiero. Put a tea on the stove and enjoy the musical sounds that can also be purchased here for 10 bucks.

Premiere: Young Troy – All My Dogs (Video)

Young Troy of the Frap Boyz drops the video for his banger off the Frap City EP. This is probably the second track I heard from them that caught my ear after “Cocaine”. Directed by Samuel Olaechea.

High Snobiety recently profiled a t-shirt launch they were involved in at men’s boutique CNTRBND in Toronto. Watch that after the jump.

CJ Flemings – Coming Through Freestyle

Tuesday, September 15th, 2015

This might be the first time CJ Flemings gets posted on the site. The 19-year old has had a solid year starting off with fellow Montrealer and producer Lunice playing CJ’s “Ain’t Ready” at SXSW last year, adding it as a regular part of his set and even bringing him out to perform it in different cities. Lunice also featured him on a recently released track called “Weather Man” (stream it below).

CJ released his latest EP Next One To Enjoy two weeks ago which you can listen to after the jump. If you’re interested in hearing more from him I’d suggest starting at his collaboration mixtape with J.O The Corrupted (who we’ve featured numerous times) entitled “Political Party”.
