Mannie Fresh & Juvenile are Working on an Album with Lil Wayne

Tuesday, January 12th, 2016

During a new sit-down with AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur, Mannie Fresh and Juvenile revealed that they are currently in the process of a recording an entire album with Lil Wayne. They speak on the project as if it’s inevitable, so it looks like this partial Cash Money reunion is actually happening. A new album from these three would be the closest thing to a Hot Boys reunion that fans can hope for, at least until B.G. gets out of prison.

Coincidentally (or not?), Birdman posted a image of himself and Wayne to his Instagram account yesterday that strongly implies that they are still working through their personal and legal beefs:

Video: Rhythm Roulette with Mannie Fresh

Friday, August 28th, 2015

The legendary Mannie Fresh participates in a special live edition of Mass Appeal’s ‘Rhythm Roulette’ challenge. In case  you’re not familiar the way it works is, the producer selects three pieces of vinyl at random and then has to create an original beat using whatever usable samples they may come across. This clip in particular is a testament to Mannie’s skills because I had no idea where he was going when he selected that loop.

Just Blaze recently recorded one of these on the day Sean Price passed, and he said he was going to make something that he thought P would fuck with, so that should be interesting.

Mannie Fresh Previews New Yasiin Bey Track “Let’s Go”

Friday, May 30th, 2014

The illustrious Mannie Fresh recently sat down with Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Frannie Kelly at NPR headquarters in D.C. for the first ever live episode of the Microphone Check podcast. Mannie’s interviews are always interesting and enlightening but the headline here is the new collaboration with Yasiin Bey that he previews, in full, at around 36 and a half minutes in. The track is called “Let’s Go”, and it bumps. If you’re pressed for time you can jump to about the 32 minute mark, where Mannie speaks on his working relationship with Mos and the song itself which he says they just finished the other day.

After the interview was over, Mannie hit the turntables and spun and impromptu set of bounce remixes of tracks like Earth Wind and Fire’s “September”, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and Kanye’s “Good Life”.

Check that out below.
