Phife Dawg – Tim Westwood Freestyle (1999)

Following the untimely passing of the legend Phife Dawg earlier this week, Tim Westwood shares a vintage freestyle with Phife, Wildchild and Madlib from 1999.

Nas Premieres New J Dilla Collab “The Sickness” at SXSW

Last night at Mass Appeal’s Live at the BBQ showcase at SXSW, Nas previewed a new track called “The Sickness” that finds him trading verses with the late J Dilla. The song, produced by Madlib, will appear on the upcoming Dilla Rap album The Diary, which arrives next month. The track was not previously included on the tracklist, so I presume it’s one of the two bonus tracks that you see on the iTunes listing.

Kanye West ft. Ty Dolla $ign – Real Friends/No More Parties in LA

Last night on Twitter, Kim Kardashian hinted that Kanye would be rebooting his legendary 2010 G.O.O.D Fridays weekly song series, and Ye has made good on that promise. Check out the new track “Real Friends” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, plus a snippet of “No More Parties in LA,” which features an intro from Kendrick Lamar, a beat by Madlib and additional production from Kanye.

Listen to Two New Madvillain Tracks

More than a decade after the release of their mid-aughts collaborative classic, Madvillainy, two previously unreleased tracks from MF DOOM and Madlib make their way into the ether.

The pair have been quietly teasing Madvillainy 2 for years and like the DOOMSTARKS album, it’s sort of become one of those projects where fans feel like, “if it happens it happens, but I’m not holding my breath”.

Well today we get to hear an untitled track featuring M.E.D. and a song called “Travis 911” about a chimp that mauled a woman in Connecticut in 2009. DOOM previously spoke about the track, which is written from the chimp’s perspective in a New Yorker profile by Ta-Nehisi Coates.
