#MaddenBattle 2011: The Aftermath

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

So as you may have heard on Twitter, #TeamNah suffered a mind-boggling defeat at the first annual #MaddenBattle Championship last night. I honestly don’t know what happened. The first round saw self-described Madden rookie Freeway put up a valiant effort against the homie Action Bronson only to fall in a edge-of-your seat overtime showdown. Next up, I faced off against the legendary Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian for 4 quarters and let’s just say that he took that round and leave it at that. No need to even mention the score. But it was far from over at that point!

Maffew Ragazino, who went out an purchased a PS3 system just so he could practice for the battle, took us well into the second round with a win against Hof from OnSMASH and damn near put an early end to Action Bronson’s night. As team captain, I was more than happy with Ragazino’s performance, but in true Brooklyn fashion, the homie spent a good 5 minutes beating himself up for not taking the title. But it still wasn’t over! Gilbere Forte’, who stepped in as an alternate for Emilio Rojas, took us all the way to Round 3 and came within seconds of beating out Troy Ave for a trip to the #MaddenBattle Bowl.

At the end though, it just wasn’t our night. After a surpsie forfeit by Bronson and Madden beast Asher Roth, Troy Ave  took the title for Team OnSMASH. He of course walks away with a custom championship ring custom designed by Gabe Urist and more importantly, bragging rights until next year. Shout to all of the good folks at Complex for all of their hard work in putting this together, and DJ’s Clockwork and Freshbeats for providing the soundtrack. Stay tuned for a “smack-talk” re-cap video from Levi Maestro.

Madden NFL 12 is in stores now!

#MaddenBattle 2011 Pops Off Tonight

Monday, September 12th, 2011

It’s about to go down! Tonight at Complex Headquarters, myself and #TeamNah will face off against some of your favorite MCs and sites in an epic battle for Madden NFL 12 supremacy. Needless to say it’s going to get bloodier than Roethlisberger’s nose after a meeting with the Ravens D-Line. You can follow the madness on Twitter by searching the #MaddenBattle hash tag and we will of course have a video re-cap of all of the action in the coming weeks.

Wish us luck and stay tuned for info about the #TeamNah Championship Parade in Yonkers later this week.

Freeway, Emilio Rojas & Maffew Ragazino to Rep Nah Right in #MaddenBattle 2011

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

As previously announced, on Monday September 12th Nah Right will be taking part in an epic battle for the title of 2011 #MaddenBattle Champion. In anticipation of the throwdown I have recruited Freeway, Emilio Rojas and Maffew Ragazino to lend me a hand in schooling those other teams in the finer points of virtual football. As you can see, all of the other teams have some pretty capable MCs and captains, but I’m confident that a member of Team Nah will polishing the Championship ring at the end of the day.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go practice my touchdown celebrations. May the best man win!

#MaddenBattle Championship: Coming Soon

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

It’s about to go down like Kat Stacks at a baller convention. Unless you live under a rock (or don’t play video games), then you’ve probably heard that EA dropped Madden NFL 12 earlier this week and early reports indicate that it may be one of the best editions from the franchise yet. As you can imagine, Madden enthusiasts all over the world will be scrapping it out for bragging rights over the next few weeks and well, in the spirit of friendly competition, we want us a piece of that action too dammit! So on September 12th at Complex headquarters, myself, Hof from OnSMASH, Jake Paine from HipHopDX and Complex’s Justin Monroe will each captain a 4 man team comprised of some of your favorite MC’s in a Madden 12 Championship Battle for the ages. The last gamer standing will take home a custom “Superbowl” style ring by jeweler Gabe Urist and of course the title of Madden 12 Champion. So stay tuned for the team announcements, which will be coming soon, and monitor the trash talk on Twitter by searching the #MaddenBattle hash tag. It should be a good time, although Gabe might as well start engraving my name on that ring right now to save himself the trouble later.
