Here’s a lyric video for “Consumerism”, a frantic new track that L Boogie debuted at her prison homecoming show in NYC last week. This thing sure has a lot of “isms”, she should get GLC for the remix.

Over unpaid taxes. They always get you with the taxes. I can honestly say I never thought I’d see the day that Lauryn would join the ranks of Kimberly Jones, Inga Marchand and Reminisce Smith.

During a forceful statement to the judge, Hill explained she had always meant to eventually pay the taxes but was unable to during a period of time when she dropped out of the music business.

Hill has reportedly already paid $970,000 in owed taxes.

Lauryn Hill drops off this new track “Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)” as part of her new deal with Sony.

Here is a link to a piece that I was ‘required’ to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday’s tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today’s unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!

Nas & Ms. Lauryn Hill Announce Life Is Good/Black Rage Tour

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

Please say the Ms. On Thursday tickets will go on sale for the just announced Life is Good/Black Rage Tour which will kick off on October 6th in Columbia, MD and continue for 18 dates before the final show at Radio City Music Hall in NY on New Year’s Eve. Lauryn will miss the first few dates but will join Nas in Dallas and appear at most of the shows thereafter.

Hip-Hop and music superpowers Nas and Ms. Lauryn Hill announce the Life Is Good/Black Rage tour, dates this fall. Both musicians, who are responsible for influencing a generation of music lovers, will share the stage for an experience that fans have long been waiting for. Tickets can be purchased beginning this Friday, with a pre-sale in select markets beginning Thursday.

The tour takes its name from Nas’s groundbreaking #1 album, Life Is Good and “Black Rage,” a new song by Ms. Lauryn Hill about the derivative effects of racial inequity and abuse. The track, which will be released this fall, is described by Ms. Hill as a juxtaposition to the statement “life is good,” which she believes can only be so when these long standing issues are addressed and resolved.

“I use the performance platform as an opportunity to express the energy of that moment, and the intention behind it,” said Ms. Hill. “I’ve been a long standing rebel against the stale, over commoditization. As artists we have opportunity to help the public evolve, raise consciousness and awareness, teach, heal, enlighten and inspire in ways the democratic process may not be able to touch. So we keep it moving.”

“This is history,” Nas said. “Better late than never. Life is good!”

Full schedule after the jump.

Video: Nas & Lauryn Hill Live @ Summer Jam 2012

Monday, June 4th, 2012

If we’re gonna talk about Summer Jam drama, let’s talk about the irony of Nas of all people filling in for a headliner that decided to step off at the last minute. It’s the circle of life.

So the above performance came about after Wayne and Nicki got wind of a comment Rosenberg made in the parking lot and decided to take their ball and go home.

Next thing you know, Flex starts talking his shit, then Rosenberg and Ciph went back in on their show this morning.

offered my humble opinion on the fuckery on Twitter earlier.

UPDATE: Lauryn chimes in with her 2 cents
