It’s been a rough year for CuDi, having publicly announced his struggles with depression and suicidal urges and then successfully making it through voluntary treatment. Now he gets to end the year on a high-note with the release of his highly anticipated new album, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’. Lead by a trio of excellent singles, and featuring guest appearances from Travis Scott, Pharrell and the elusive Andre 3000, this one definitely comes with some high expectations.

This weekend in Long Beach, the innaugural ComplexCon went down and one of the highlights of the weekend was the triumphant return of KiD CuDi. CuDi ran through performances of new tracks such as “Frequency” and “Surfin”, “All Through The Late Night” with Travis Scott and old classics like “Pursuit of Happiness”. Check out a Complex recap and some additional fan footage below.

KiD CuDi Calls Out Drake on Twitter

All of you superheroes who stepped up to cape for Kid CuDi after Drake took a shot at him on his new song “Two Birds, One Stone” may have been a bit premature with your concern. CuDi can handle his own business beefs, thank you very much. In a tweet sent out moments ago, presumably from wherever he’s currently still in treatment, CuDi challenged Drake to pop that shit to his face (pussy). I can’t imagine a situation where that would ever happen, but I hope it does because that would be the most melodic fair one ever.

See Cudi’s tweet below.

In a deeply personal message posted to his Facebook timeline last night, KiD CuDi announced that he has checked himself into rehab for “depresssion and suicidal urges”. As you probably know, CuDi’s new album Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ was originally slated to drop this past Friday but was delayed at the 11th hour due to sample clearance issues.

As his message reminds us, some things are infinitely more important than music. He explains the dark thoughts that have haunted him for some time and says that it got so bad he felt he had to take this step or he feared he would hurt himself. The note comes off as very apologetic, but I don’t know that anybody needs to apologize for prioritizing their emotional well-being and seeking help.

CuDi promises fans that the album is still coming, although he doesn’t plan to be around to promote it much. He does hope to still perform at the upcoming ComplexCon which is about a month away, so that’s something to look forward to. Read CuDi’s full message below.

Here’s a previously unreleased KiD CuDi and Kanye collaboration that made its way on the internet over the last couple of days. It’s been dubbed “Can’t Look Into My Eyes”, but it seems like it’s actually a snippet of a Kanye verse from an alternate, unreleased version of CuDi’s “Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Now” from his Satellite Flight project.

KiD CuDi’s new album, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, was supposed to be out today, but he tweeted out a disappointing message to his fans yesterday saying the project was going to be delayed for a minute due to clearance issues.
