DJ Khaled ft. Jay-Z, Future & Beyonce – Top Off

Friday, March 2nd, 2018

DJ Khaled unleashes “Top Off,” the First Big Single from his just-announced next album, Father of Asahd. The song features Jay-Z, Future and Beyonce and is notable because it’s Jay and Bey’s second collab with Asahd’s pops, plus you may recall Jay and Future trading sublims and IG shade back when 4:44 dropped. Jay’s verse was obviously recorded very recently as he references that 100K bar bill that was in the news a week or two ago.

Jay-Z Talks OJ, Kanye & Trump with The New York Times Magazine

Wednesday, November 29th, 2017

The New York Times Style Magazine just published an extensive interview between Jay-Z and Executive Editor Dean Baquet that was inspired by his new album 4:44, specifically the song “The Story of OJ,” and which touches on race in America, the new album as therapy, his marital problems and much more. Over the course of a couple of hours, Jay spoke on how the election of Trump has forced the conversation of race to the forefront in a way that probably wouldn’t have happened under another president, his need to instill compassion and empathy in his children despite their privileged upbringing and how his album and Beyonce’s Lemonade served as therapy for the couple. He also revealed that he and his wife have a number of songs in the stash that they recorded for their long rumored joint project, and opened up about his contentious but resilient relationship with Kanye West.

You can watch the highlights from interview below or read a transcript at the NYT site here.

Hov made his triumphant return to Saturday Night Live tonight with a performance of “Bam” with Damian Marley. Jay made a strong statement in support of the movement to end the systematic state-sanctioned murder of people of color and also sent a big fuck you to ya’ll president by taking the stage rocking a Colin Kaepernick jersey.

I was wondering if Jay was gonna do one of these or if he would just show up 10 minutes before airtime and crush it anyway. Catch him and Ryan Gosling on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live‘s 43rd season tomorrow night.

Jay-Z Performs “Family Feud” & “Numb/Encore” in the Live Lounge

Jay-Z recently made a rare appearance in the Live Lounge at BBC in London and performed “Family Feud” from the 4:44 album, as well as his “Numb/Encore” mashup with Linkin Park in tribute to the late Chester Bennington. Prior to the performance, he sat down with host Clara Amfo for a 20-minute interview. Throughout their chat, Jay spoke on a number of topics including the new album and Blue Ivy’s lyrical contribution at the end of “We Family,” but perhaps most interestingly, he opened up about the political situation in America and sharply criticized Grand Wizard Trump. Is Cam’ron About to Reignite His Beef with Jay-Z?

Tuesday, September 19th, 2017

I hate that I have to even write this post in 2017, but here goes. So Cam posted a snippet of a new track on his IG account that features a line that many have interpreted as a shot at Jay-Z. The theory is that Cam is responding to Jay’s line on “Moonlight” where he quips, “Look, I know killers, you no killer,” which people apparently believe was a not only a response to that infamous Kanye rant, but also a shot at Killa.

Personally, I think that’s a massive reach. I can’t imagine Jay still harbors any real ill will towards Cam at this stage of the game, particularly when Cam went out of his way to give Jay unsolicited props just last year, and Jay returned the favor by shouting Killa during his Tweet spree back in June. Then again, I’ve been wrong in the past.

Plus, it doesn’t really matter what I think, because if that’s how Cam took it, there will be no convincing him that Jay doesn’t want that smoke. This kills me because these are two of my favorite rappers of ALL TIME, and while they have not gotten along for the majority of their respective careers, it seemed like they were both in a place where they could begrudgingly respect each other. On the other hand, Cam’s “You Gotta Love It” is one of my favorite diss tracks ever, so if we’re gonna get more of that, then I might be able to live with this.

Watch Cam’s video below.
