KMD ft. MF DOOM & Jay Electronica – True Lightyears

Wednesday, August 16th, 2017

MF DOOM officially drops “True Lightyears”, his collaboration with Jay Electronica, as the second release from his ongoing adult swim series, The Missing Notebook Rhymes. You may recall that this actually leaked last year but it was promptly ghosted from the internet at the request of DOOM himself. More than just a collaboration between two of the most respected lyricists in the game, the track also serves as the first release from a new KMD album called Crack In Time. If you know your history, then you know that DOOM was first introduced to the world as Zev Love X back in the early 90’s alongside his brother, the late DJ Subroc.

Listen below and stay tuned for more info on Crack In Time, which will arrive via Nature Sounds.

Jay Electronica Says He’d Slap 50 Cent, Calls Kendrick His Son

Saturday, February 6th, 2016

Jay Electronica recently held a very interesting Periscope session in which he fielded questions from fans and offered a wide range of opinions on everybody from Freddie Gibbs to Action Bronson. Notably he had some pretty harsh words for 50 Cent and showed Ab-Soul and Kendrick alot of love while also making it clear that he considers K.Dot his son. He also speaks on his perpetually delayed album Act II, J. Cole, Lupe Fiasco and more.

Somebody out there has a secret stash of Jay Elec cuts and they are methodically feeding the ‘net, because another previously unreleased track called “Can I Kick It (Holladay)” surfaced last night. About 10 seconds into this you know it’s old, but it’s still some new Jay and he’s spitting.

Jay Electronica Declares Himself “God of Hip-Hop”

Wednesday, August 19th, 2015

During a recent performance at XOYO in London, Jay Electronica declared himself the “god of Hip-Hop” and directly referenced Drake and J. Cole.

“Jay Electronica is the god of Hip-Hop. You may be the 6 God, but I’m THE god”

“I’m sorry, but J. Cole ain’t got bars like this! Whoever your favorite rapper is, they all know that I’m the god”

So what does it all mean? Is Jay trying to bait Drizzy and Cole into a beef? Probably not, because this is Hip-Hop and this is exactly how you’re supposed to feel if you’re an MC.
