Video: Folk & Stress Interview w/ iHipHop

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Brothers Folk & Stress spoke to iHipHop this week.

This was definitely one of the most fun interviews I have ever done. It was also the only interview that I’ve ever gone to where the rappers just wanted to…rap. So we burned a couple down, and I let the camera roll as Stress went the f*ck in at Folk’s Williamsburg apartment. There was also some very interesting dialogue. Namely that Folk & Stress were discovered by recently convicted former NBA star Jayson Williams. They recant being whisked away to Aspen and studio sessions at Jay-Z’s spot. How “scenesters” are ruining hip-hop and their influences consisting of Charles Manson, Kurt Vonnegut & Glen Beck were also touched on. F&S also declare that they are “your favorite rapper’s, least favorite rapper”, and how their life is not “a movie”

Hit the jump for the rest of the interview. They got a show tomorrow night at Santos with DJ Babu, Fashawn & Cory Gunz.

Video: XV Interview w/ iHipHop

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Perspective of iHipHop had this to say about XV and his producer Seven:

Alright so I finally got to interview a rapper I’m currently creepily obsessed with, XV. The dude is from Wichita, Kansas of all places, and he sounds like no one else out right now. A factor that I feel is vital to have success and longevity in an art form that is supersaturated with copy cats. We talked about a bunch of stuff. What the fuck is there to do in Witchita, Kansas? Debated downloading porn vs. streaming, and Seven (XV’s go to producer) chimed in on how lack of computer programs and video games influence their sound. Finally XV discusses how fucked up rappers priorities are these days. A point I wholeheartedly co-sign. Rappers these days seem to be more concerned with having their name out there, being on the scene, and looking fly as opposed to just making good music.

Video: Maino Interview w/ iHipHop

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Maino has some words to get T.I. through his bid:

Maino was in Chicago last week for a listening party at CRC Studios and found a few minutes to do an interview. I got a chance to soak up tracks from If Tommorow Comes… and get a feel of what the album had to offer. We spoke about the release date pushbacks, “All The Above” being certified Gold and the direction it took after Just Blaze put his magic on it. He also spoke on performing at T.I.’s farewell concert and what they talked about at his home the day before he went to serve his 366-day sentence.

Shouts to Sam.

Video: Jadakiss Interview w/ iHipHop

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Jadakiss sits down with iHipHop to discuss The Last Kiss features and production. He lets the people know that the Lox album will be dropping late summer on Interscope. Jada also touches on how he is a security-less artist, and “hip-hop is hip-hop, I just don’t like it when people take it for granted, and try and make it something else”. Finally Jada lets us know about his new show on BET looking for a new DJ, and how he is going to make the contestants do some “P. Diddy shit.”
