sundaycleaningvol-1

Queens, New York’s own Hannibal King is back with a new instrumental project called Sunday Cleaning Vol. 1. A quick perusal of the 8-track project tells me that this is an apt title as these beats sound pretty much like how you feel on Sunday cleaning day: laid back but determined.

BUB COVER v1 clean

Brooklyn’s Dub Styles, of the Villains United crew with friend of the site Hannibal King, says “Fuck Da World” on the new single from his upcoming project Fatboy Sessions. CJ Fly from Pro Era joins him on the Hanni produced cut, which finds them yearning for simpler times when their happiness wasn’t defined by their level of success, a sentiment I can actually relate to myself. Queens producer and MC Hannibal King delivers his new album Don’t Die after previewing the title track and a collaboration with Nasty Nigel over the past few weeks. King calls this his most honest work yet, and if those first two leaks are any indication, that is an apt description. Don’t Die is mostly self-produced with additional contributions from Thelonious Martin, Big Jerm, Swelly, and SuprchnK.

Video: Hannibal King – Don’t Die

Thursday, February 25th, 2016

Queens MC and producer Hannibal King shared the title track to his next project this week in the form of a woozy music video that finds him drowning his sorrows in gas station beer and imploring himself to keep going.

Suicidal and depressed, I had to find a way to change my state of being,” King explained in an email to The FADER. “I wrote it at 4 a.m. in the morning in the studio, very not sober. Writing the song helped me get free and realize where I needed to be in my life at that moment. The artistic process of writing the song breathed a new purpose for my life.”
