Finally, Conway Drops the G.O.A.T Mixtape

Thursday, December 21st, 2017

Well, The Machine has been teasing this for a minute. It got to the point where I wondered if we would even be seeing it this year, but like them Griselda boys usually do, he came through in the clutch with a Christmas gift for aficionados of bars. The 10-track, ambitiously titled G.O.A.T mixtape features a lyrics-driven Rap fans’ dream lineup of guests that includes Benny, Styles P, Royce Da 5’9, Raekwon, Lloyd Banks and the late Prodigy. Production was handled largely by Daringer with a single contribution from Alchemist on a joint called “Trump.” My only lament is that, damn, Jack would’ve wanted to hear this.

Westside Gunn, Conway & Benny Interview & Freestyle on Sway in the Morning

Monday, August 21st, 2017

Westside Gunn, Conway and Benny stop by Sway in The Morning to do some catching up since their last visit, update listeners on their recent tour and upcoming projects and take some calls from fans. With Daringer, Alchemist and Budgie playing the cut, they also made time to flame the mic with a few of freestyles, which you can check out below.

Mach Hommy – HBO (Album Stream)

Monday, March 6th, 2017

Lyrical menace and Griselda affiliate Mach Hommy drops his hilariously titled new project, HBO or Haitian Body Odor. The title might elicit some chuckles, but Hommy isn’t hear to fuck around. The project features production from the likes of Daringer, Camouflage Monk, August Fanon, Roc Marciano, Knxwledge and others, as well as guest appearances from Conway and Keisha Plum.

Stream the full tape below.

Westside Gunn – Hitler Wears Hermes 4 (Album Stream)

Monday, October 31st, 2016

Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 3 mixtape was the project that served as my first proper introduction to the Griselda records movement. Immediately upon hearing that tape, I knew these guys were on to something. Now, a little over a year later, the label has established itself as one of the illest Rap crews putting it down, period. Westside Gunn probably could’ve let the FLYGOD project rock until 2017, but he’s already back at us with the 4th installment of the HWH series. He’s got Stalley, Smoke DZA, Benny and of course a couple of Conway appearances on this one.

Stream in full below and look out for Conway’s GOAT project to drop on November 25th, or Black Friday.

In The Lab with Daringer

Thursday, September 15th, 2016

Words by Daniel Isenberg (@StanIpcus)

Beneath the brazy bars spit by Buffalo-bred brothers Westside Gunn and Conway, you will commonly hear sample-based soundscapes crafted by a buzz-worthy producer from the same city—Daringer. In the past year, this three-headed monster has ushered in a new wave of hard body hip-hop, keeping that real street shit many of us grew up on alive and well. And Daringer has been at the helm, spearheading the production on celebrated Griselda Records projects like Flygod and Reject 2, not to mention a shitload of Soundcloud loosies and EPs. And though they’re steeped in tradition, Daringer’s beats are not just batches of recycled ‘90s nostalgia. Instead, he’s putting his own stamp on the sample-flip style with a stripped-down signature sound that has earned the respect of legends in the game like Alchemist and DJ Premier.

It’s not easy to go back to basics and still help push the genre forward, which is what intrigues us most about Daringer’s discography thus far. So we hopped on the horn with him to find out how he constructs his tracks, and dug into some interesting personal history along the way. Plus, we got a feel for the vibe in his Buffalo-based, crib-set studio, the stories behind some of our favorite cuts, and what it’s like to record with two of the illest new dudes in the game. Let’s take a trip upstate, shall we? It’s time to get In The Lab with Daringer.

Video: Conway – Salute Me

Tuesday, February 16th, 2016

The Griselda Gang is not trying to let the competition breathe as they continue their onslaught of new music and visuals. Check out Conway’s new video for the Daringer produced “Salute Me” above. This appeared on the REJECT 2 album, which we premiered here back in October.

Also be sure to check out Westside Gunn and The Purist’s new collaborative EP, plus a new freestyle from Conway on Tony Touch’s show, both of which you can find here.
