Ebro Speaks on Kanye’s New Album

Wednesday, February 10th, 2016

Last night Ebro was one of a select few to hear the most recent iteration of Kanye’s new album TLOP. Ye has been playing new tracks for people for over a year now but since he’s a notorious last minute tinkerer, who’s to say if any of the stuff people had heard previously even made the final cut. Check out Ebro’s thoughts above, but here are some highlights:

Ebro Plays Rae Sremmurd for His Daughter

Wednesday, December 16th, 2015

This Ebro vs. Rae Sremmurd beef is shaping up to be one of the funnier conflicts of 2015. In response to the brothers Sremm’s 20-minute freestyle on Tim Westwood’s show, during which they suggested Ebro’s daughter Izzie copped their album, the Hot 97 DJ plays “No Type” for her. She’s 16 months old.

But that’s not it. Continue below to hear a couple of bars that Ebro himself sent at Rae Sremm when Pusha T put him on the spot during a recent interview. UPDATED: Here’s the full interview with Pusha, in which he defends Rae Sremmurd, talks Kanye’s new album, Darkest Before Dawn and freestyles with Ebro and Rosenberg.

Ebro on Meek Mill’s Failure to Respond to Drake

Tuesday, July 28th, 2015

Last night Meek Mill pulled a fast one on the entire Rap Internet when he failed to deliver a response to Drake’s “Charged Up” after Funkmaster Flex stated outright that he’d be playing a new Meek record during his 7:00 pm show on Hot 97. The reaction from angry fans hungry for some good old fashioned Rap beef was swift and relentless. Meek took a loss. Flex took a loss. Stop fucking tweeting and talking shit on stage Meek and drop a song.

On his show this morning, Ebro revealed that it was Meek and his camp that didn’t come through. Flex was promised a song and pumped up the reponse record accordingly, beleiving he’d have something to play last night. The song never came. Ebro speculates that maybe Meek was just trying to poke Drake and see how he would react, but that can’t be it, can it? This isn’t Meek’s first day at Rap camp. He has to understand how this would look to the public.

Particularly in the age of social media, you don’t get to just pull shit like this and think it’s gonna fly. Memes will be generated. Thinkpieces will be written. You will be called out as scared, unprepared or both. Or maybe your girl, a good friend of your new nemesis, stepped in and shut shit down? The fact is, we won’t know until Meek either speaks on it or makes the reasons irrelevant by dropping a record. Drop that record Meek.
