On this latest leak from the recently released JS-1 album, It Is What It Isn’t, Andre the Giant, Sadat X and Neek The Exotic pay tribute to the producer, specifically some of the legendary beatsmiths that helped them make their names. JS-1 absolutely murders a great sample (about a different kind of sample) from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

It Is What It Isn’t is out now.

We also have a bonus version of “Reppin NY” that was mixed and mastered by DJ Premier after the album was finalized.

“Once the song was recorded and I laid the cuts down, Premier asked me if he could mix and master that song,” explains JS-1. Busy schedules kept Premier’s mix off the album, but, Premo recently sat down behind the boards and added his signature studio magic. “As a man of his word, and someone who truly respects and enjoys good hip-hop, Preem still took the time to mix it, just so we can blast it out to all the DJs and real hip-hop fans,” says JS-1. “The mix is better now, of course. I can’t thank him enough for his help.”

JS-1 recruits three of the most intrinsically New York City MC’s to rep the Apple on this cut off his upcoming project No One Cares, out June 21st.

“Working with Freddie Foxxx and Lil Fame for the first time was such a treat. I have always loved, felt, and spun their music from day one,” says JS-1, who called up legendary DJ Premier to connect him with those MCs. “Joell is really dope and the ‘the new hope’ for NY artists still doing hardcore music,” he adds. “To work with all three of them and get them on the same song, especially in these days and times – it’s an honor.”
