Him-Lo – Horsepower (Mixtape)

Tuesday, February 4th, 2014

I’m happy to present a new mixtape from Him-Lo of the Philly Lo-Lifes. You may remember him from the “Breakfast Club” video with MarQ Spekt and his fellow Philly Lo-Life All-Stars. Killadelphia has long been a breeding ground for lyrical animals, but I’m glad to see these guys starting to get some well deserved shine. Friend of the site and fellow Polo connoisseur Dallas Penn handles hosting duties.

Stream and download below and check out Dallas’ recap of the 2014 ‘Lo Goose On The Deuce event.

Rap Draft with Dallas Penn

Saturday, November 16th, 2013

We got some great feedback on our first installment of the Rap Draft with A&R vet Dante Ross, so we brought in Dallas Penn for the next round. DP donned his GM hat (which is ‘Lo, of course) and picked up some of Rap’s top talent for his roster. Check his team out and let us know how you think he’d do against Dante’s squad.

FEATURE: Dallas Penn’s 5 Favorite Polo Pieces Worn in Rap Videos

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

As you may or may not know, myself and my man Dallas Penn share an affinity for vintage Ralph Lauren Polo. He grew up in Queens and I was raised in Yonkers, but when we first met back during the mid 2000’s, we had an instant connection through our shared passion. In recent years, collectible ‘Lo has seen something of a resurgence amongst collectors of vintage fresh, but the history behind this shit goes back well over 25 years.

These days, anybody can be fresh. There are countless blogs and websites that document and curate all of the latest and greatest in street and men’s wear in what can sometimes feel like real time. Back during the Golden Age of ‘Lo, there were no lookbooks or street style blogs to keep you updated, you either saw something in the store, on the streets or in a Rap video. Like myself, Dallas was heavily influenced by ‘Lo cameos in several early to mid 90’s music videos and so we brought him in to talk about some of the legendary moments that helped shape and continue to influence style to this day.

Dallas Penn Presents: The ‘Lo End Theory

Thursday, January 17th, 2013

This Sunday the 20th at the Highline Ballroom, Internets Celebrity, OG Life$tyle King and longtime friend of the site Dallas Penn is presenting what we expect to be the first of many ‘Lo-End Theory events. If you know, or know of Dallas then I probably don’t have to tell you that he’s a get-fresh historian who reps the RL lifestyle to the fullest everywhere he goes. I can’t think of anybody better suited to spearhead an event like this and I have no doubt the ‘Lo community of NYC will be talking about this for some time.

The festivities kick off at 12:00 p.m. with performances by an immaculately curated lineup of MCs scheduled to start later that afternoon. Finally, this gathering will also serve as a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Lo-Lifes, so if you’re a collector, this is really some once in a lifetime shit that’s going down.

Tickets purchased in advance at this link will run you $19.67 (yes) and tickets purcashed at the door will be $25.00.
