Here is the full first episode of Embedded, which had its debut last night on Current TV.

On this special hour-long Embedded, Mos Def takes us on an all access seven-day tour of Japan while he performs his new album “The Ecstatic” to packed venues in Tokyo and Osaka. During that week, he hits up the Harajuku fashion district, whoops it up at a sumo wrestling match, and gets a personal tour of the Tokyo Giants stadium from his friend and baseball phenom Mark Kroon. Then, he brilliantly ties it all together by divulging the history of great thinkers known as “ecstatics,” showing that he is clearly one of the most insightful men in hip-hop.

The whole thing runs for about 48 minutes. Maybe worth bookmarking if you’re at work, or maybe not (I see you England.)

Video: More Mos Def A Cappellas On The Streets of Osaka (The Embassy + Auditorium)

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Current TV makes some great fucking segments.

Mos Def made his way across Japan in March with two Current Music producers in tow. In the streets of Osaka, he busted out an a capella version of “Embassy,” another song off his much anticipated album, The Ecstatic, out June 9 from Downtown Records.

Everyone who I’ve spoken to about the album hasĀ  only had good things to say about it, and I just got confirmation that the album did not get pushed back and is still dropping on June 9th, next Tuesday, contrary to yesterday’s reports. Amazon will have the MP3 version starting on June 8th. Mos is on 106 & Park (lol) tomorrow, Letterman on Tuesday and Fallon on Tuesday (I hope to fuck they do Rising Down).
