The Cool Kids Return with Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe

September 14th, 2017

At the height of the so-called “blog rap era” The Cool Kids emerged as a standout act among what was, in retrospect, a vast sea of mediocrity. I can remember wondering to myself if Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rock’s throwback musical and fashion aesthetic was a gimmick, or if they really held the bygone era that clearly influenced them in high regard. But it quickly became apparent that these kids were students of the game and were serious about their art and the culture.

Fast forward 10 years and a handful of albums and mixtapes later, and that same aesthetic has been co-opted and copied more times than we can count. Chuck and Mike have since split up to pursue solo careers and now come back full circle with the new Cool Kids album Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe. Early reviews have been very kind to the project and the first couple of singles reinforce those opinions. The album features appearances from Boldy James, Smoke DZA, Buddy, Jay Worthy, A-Trak, Reese, Travis Barker and comedian Hannibal Buress, among others.
