Canibus – Tell The Truth (DJ Premier Diss)

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

Long story short, DJ Premier had a segment from his extensive interview with VladTV go up this week where he was talking about his most difficult studio session (which he said was with Canibus). ‘Bis caught wind of it and put out this “diss track” aimed at DJ Premier (the song itself isn’t really aimed at Premier… it’s the talking at the end).

Along with this open letter to DJ Premier via his Facebook account:

I’m beggin’ you Preem. Don’t let these spineless magazine writers and fake ass journalists frame the pictures wrong and divide us. I ALWAYS treated you with respect and loyalty. Take 5mins and look at the videos of the shows on my reverb page where I big you & Guru up and listen to the interviews where I spoke on what you mean to me …and HIP HOP. If you really felt that way then why did you say that on camera instead of hollerin’ at me? If you can’t understand why I would be confused by your interview with Vladtv then I don’t know what to tell you. I never knew you felt like that fam. Word. They running with it and it’s not a good look. please turn it around for Hip Hop. I been trynna’ pull the stick up for 3 days now. I’m gonna’ crash Preem. -Canibus

Video: Lil Wayne Addresses Jay-Z’s H.A.M. Line

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Sway asked Lil Wayne for his thoughts on Jay-Z’s ‘baby money’ line in “H.A.M.” that Birdman took offense to.

“Actually, the subject that he’s talking about in that line, I can’t box with the god with that… Given my wit and the type of person I am, I’ll capitalize and play off of it.”

He says Kanye personally played him the track in a session, but he didn’t ask Kanye to elaborate on the line.

Video: Cons Clarifies Pusha T Biting Accusations

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

On Saturday morning, the rap world woke up and listened to Pusha T’s “My God” (that is, if they hadn’t already heard it the night before when Flex dropped it). On Saturday morning, Cons woke up and fired some shots at Pusha, which took everyone by surprise at first because Cons wasn’t being clear about why he was making “biting” accusations.

Until this video came out. In it, Consequence explains there was a line in Pusha’s song that sounded like it was both a shot and a veiled reference to a line in one of Consequence’s songs that Kanye wanted Pusha T to rap on.

it’s The Last Supper for you n***as just the picture repainted – Pusha T

vs.

“it’s The Last Supper for you motherfuckers, I don’t make a promise I can’t keep” – Consequence

Cons also announces he’ll be releasing the song in question (“The Last Supper”) as a bonus when he drops the untagged version of Movies on Demand 2 on iTunes.

Audio: Rick Ross Talks Young Jeezy w/ Tim Westwood

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

So apparently Jeezy recently appeared in some Flipcam video walking around South Beach flaunting his talents and popping indirect shit to The Cop. Well the Cop spoke to Tim Westwood last night and had some words for Mr. 17.5.

“I got to see the footage of him walking on South Beach, down Collins Ave…[Tim: it got a little crazy out there.] Yeah, he played himself. You gotta come cross the bridge to Carol City, Lil’ Haiti, that’s where you get your issues. I mean, Washington Ave? Give me a break…..what’s crazy about that, you can see on that same footage, when they asked about my name, they still don’t really have a direct answer. And that ain’t gangster at all. If you really have an issue put it on the table and handle it like a G. Walking down Collins Ave…You played yourself, you’ll get that took from you.”

Ross on Jeezy:

#Moreshotsfired. Def Jam’s marketing department stays winning. He also spoke about his reported walk out during the taping of the 2010 Soul Train Awards the other night. You can hear that an the rest of the interview below. Props to Miss Info who has the whole backstory as usual.

Jim Jones & Cam’ron – Toast Freestyle

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Here’s the MP3 of the “Runaway” freestyle where Cam fires off a few shots at Kanye, on behalf of Dame. Quality is less than favorable, but you get the idea. Still unsure why Cam is still standing up for Dame when Dame is a grown man and is doing his own thing now.

Another thing, this didn’t surprise me so much considering where Jim’s career is at right now, but did Cam really need to start burning bridges at this stage of the game? This seems like a complete waste to me… we need less freestyles like this one and more songs like this.

Video: Cam’ron Dissing Kanye?

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Jimmy posted these two videos of him and Cam’ron in the studio on Twitter last night. He was previewing a song they had just cut over Kanye and Pusha T’s “Runaway” beat with Jim on the chorus, and Cam is talking over the music in the first video (after the jump.) The second video (above) is a snippet of the Cam’ron verse, and although the “Jigga” part is inaudible, it’s pretty clear how he feels about Kanye:

And Kanye, you a sucka nigga
Dissed Dame, so my attitude is fuck the nigga
Stuck to Jigga, how you gon’ live with that?
Took the beat, now come get it back…

My question is, in that case, why were they shouting out Kanye in the U.N.Stream a few months ago, telling people to leave him alone and that they love him despite the shit that he was going through at the time. Cam’s manager Big Joe even told Kanye to call him, probably to get Cam some beats or even get him on Ye’s new project. Now, was it the fact that he didn’t respond what compelled them to record this? Or is it the fact that they have an album coming out now? Is reigniting old Roc-A-Fella beef the only way to make a “Dipset Reunion” relevant these days? Or maybe Kanye did answer? Maybe they were just really high?
