Some cat named FowL out of Detroit who got to go to Los Angeles to record with Alchemist the next week. Alc laced him with a super dirty beat (which sounds a lot like Greneberg’s “Jet Luggage”) and RedBull conducted interviews with both gentlemen before FowL got in the booth to record what they put together, which was a track called “Cha Cha Chicken” (stream it at Redbull).

On Saturday morning, the rap world woke up and listened to Pusha T’s “My God” (that is, if they hadn’t already heard it the night before when Flex dropped it). On Saturday morning, Cons woke up and fired some shots at Pusha, which took everyone by surprise at first because Cons wasn’t being clear about why he was making “biting” accusations.

Until this video came out. In it, Consequence explains there was a line in Pusha’s song that sounded like it was both a shot and a veiled reference to a line in one of Consequence’s songs that Kanye wanted Pusha T to rap on.

Joe says he met with Jay-Z to discuss a possible Pump It Up Remix and Jay responded with an outrageous dollar amount. “Basically a no, a fuck-outta-here type of no.” Two weeks after they met, Jay released that classic freestyle over it.

“I was really mad about it… The freestyle was like a slap in the face, you just wanted to charge me X amount of dollars for a remix.. then you turn around and take the beat [for free.] It was almost like gloating, showboating… so I said you know what, he didn’t want to do the remix, I’m taking my beat back.”

Then he talks about how Just Blaze made the Pump It Up beat for Hov, Freeway & Beans and they passed on it.

Remember that elaborate war plan that Mos Def was drawing up for Angie? Well, it might have seemed a bit crazy at the time but Jay Elec is down for the count.
