Gil Scott-Heron’s I’m New Here drops next Tuesday, February 8th.
* Funny how he hasn’t released an album in 15 years but is willing to give away his music like this, one week in advance of the official drop date. You hardheads could learn a thing or two.

When making an album like DJ JS-1′s new album, No Sell Out, to say a lot of hard work was involved is an understatement. JS-1 was clearly up to the task, and three years, 21 tracks, and nearly 40 artist appearances after getting started, DJ JS-1 is proud to bring the masses his new album. Before the album’s official June 23 release date, JS-1 wants to give fans a preview of what he’s worked so hard to complete, and is doing so with the release of an official album sampler featuring a mix of the album’s many great songs. Putting on full display the DJ skills that JS-1 built the foundation of his career on, the sampler cuts deftly from track to track, giving fans just enough to have them begging for more.

R.A.R.E. (Reliving A Real Experience) is the latest and most introspective project from Richmond, VA artist Nickelus F. It’s a passion project that delves into Nick’s thoughts about his career, life & music.
The inspiration for R.A.R.E. came from his discovery of Portishead’s music from producer Ivory Snow, who sampled a Portishead song for a track off of Nickelus F’s Heathen album called “Somebody’s Watching Me.” After hearing that sample Nick purchased Portishead’s whole catalogue of music and started to bubble with ideas for songs that have lead up to the creation of R.A.R.E..
This album is not a mash up or simple Hip Hop songs sampling Portishead records… It’s exactly what the title states it is “Reliving A Real Experience.” Nick takes the original music and relives the experience of the musical ride Portishead has already put the listener through, while adding his own personal touch to each track.
This will surely please any Portishead enthusiast and open up the minds of Hip Hop heads to a new genre of music that hasn’t been named or defined yet, but that’s what artists like Nickelus F do… They redefine music…

This year Don Cusack is almost done and in honor of letting people in on the process to sneak a glimpse at the work in progress I put together a short snippet tape. You know just so you can see where I’m at and help motivate me to finish this damn thing. Its not all the songs from the album or nothing like that, just 5 of the joints that were the most finished.
As for the project being done, who knows. Sometime soon tho so that I can start finish my work with Von Pea and Brickbeats. More than anything it just needs to be mixed down at this point and there are a few people im still waiting on to finish a few songs but I wont name names… YET!
So here we go! The bold joints are the ones that are on the snippet tape. I didnt wanna give TOO much away but I wanted to let yall hear something. I decided to include the tracklist as it stands right now including features and producers for people who are into that sort of thing. Oh and the album is split into 2 parts. If that doesnt make sense then you dont know me or this project at all. Regardless I will be explaining it at a later date. Just enjoy this for now…

…and now Blaq Poet, in conjunction with DJ Premier and Year Round Records are proud to bring you Tha Blaqprint Album Sampler. Totaling 21 minutes and 15 tracks, Tha Blaqprint album sampler cuts from track-to-track giving fans a taste of what to expect when the full-length drops on June 30.
The sampler, which includes the fan favorites “Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed,” “Voices,” and the recently-circulating “Hate” featuring fellow Queensbridge native N.O.R.E., is full of the gritty, New York boom-bap sound that fans have grown to know, love, and expect from a Blaq Poet album. Musically, the one-and-only DJ Premier, who produced all but two tracks on the album, is responsible for providing that sound, and throughout listening to the sampler it becomes clear that neither Poet nor Premo have disappointed. Tha Blaqprint will be available June 30 via Year Round Records via Fat Beats Distribution.
