Especially when it’s your life presented as evidence.
But they say…. And I’m quite find of this story:
When floodwaters are approaching a village, people living 10 miles from the dam pack up and leave at first warning.
People living 5 miles from the dam are hesitant to leave, but leave when water levels are critical.
People living 2 miles from the dam leave in just the nick of time.
But the people living right off the dam.. Smh. The thought of imminent death and danger level is so great that the mind goes into its natural defense mode: denial. They deny the sheer impact of it all and turn a blind eye to the warnings and eventually get swept away in the dam. Dying one of the most painful deaths because they went into shutdown mode.
