Music – *crickets* you guys shot down that Lox post like them niggas ain’t from NY.

    > i read this a few times & the lulz became increasingly appropriate

  2. Gob Bluth Says:

Tell that to Ye, Drake, Mack Miller (smh, I know), and K.Dot.

    ^

none of these niggas are from atl

    i said state for state

  3. cOLD Says:

fif and Nicki were the last biggest things outta NY

and the niggas that but them on were anything but..

smh. t’is what it is… This is why NY lost.

Hov won’t sign a NY artist.

this is the sad truth of the matter.

NY rappers are stuck somewhere between “wha had happened” and “bring NY back”

a kid forced to chose between parents in a custody battle. Niggas is suffering mentally from how rap abandomed them.

  4. TS-LTE Says:

    ^

And none are from NY either. Which is the case I was making.

There is no state for stare here. New Yorkers keep this notion that its a state thing. I think that’s the only way you guys can still claim relevance of something that evolved past you.

    It’s not a state thing. It’s not a New York thing. It’s a multi-cultural thing.

    It’s hip hop.

  5. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

    Danny look a skraight Tweek

  6. Free J Says:

asap rocky debuted at number 1…he may not be on the same buzz level as nicki and 50 cent but still. he has the debut to back his claim and he can actually rhyme.

  7. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

Hov won’t sign a NY artist.

    > that right there speaks volumes. why be attached to a musical genre of niggas from your city kickin some let’s take it back raps?

  8. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

    Talent is undenied tho

  9. Free J Says:

each of those niggas k dot mentioned ARE the leaders of the new school in their respected state…only name that was prolly forced on his list was jay electronica cuz he was on the same song.

speakin of which…what new lupe x jay elec song?

  10. TS-LTE Says:

asap rocky debuted at number 1…he may not be on the same buzz level as nicki and 50 cent but still. he has the debut to back his claim and he can actually rhyme.

And that’s exactly what I said previously. Them As Soon As Possible niggas who happen to sound like a Pimp C creation.

  11. Free J Says:

  15. Gob Bluth Says:

    You spinning TS

Hov album went Gold first week even after the whole samsung deal

    asap gold,

NY will never be irrelevant not when ya favorite rapper is dressing like asap rocky, as far as power & influence we still run it

all you see in these rappers videos is ciroc, reebok, ace & now dusse

the fact that you don’t want to go state for state says it all really

  16. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

nah them asap niggas touch on every region.

south, west coast & midwest. they’re students that got on in their city by using transplanted styles they’ve adopted.

  17. TS-LTE Says:

ASAP Rocky’s debut was kinda illy though. That’s the only new New York nigga worth any play, IMO.

    Hell >>>
    Suddenly >>>
    1 Train >>>
    Goldie >>>

  18. b Says:

Strictly speaking solely from a lyrical standpoint, is there any Nas verse that touches chief keef “citgo”?

  19. Free J Says:

    oooh…thats what yall talking about….

hov is a household name he was gonna sale anyways. he been bitin or “atering” original shit his whole career. NY isnt irrelevant because of Diddy, 50 Jay and their other ventures, hot97 and breakfast club and all the historical shit like legends and what not.

but being irrelevant and being on the forfront is 2 different things…

  20. Free J Says:

ASAP Rocky’s debut was kinda illy though. That’s the only new New York nigga worth any play, IMO

    ^^^

    agreed.

  21. TS-LTE Says:

Hov album went Gold first week even after the whole samsung deal

all you see in these rappers videos is ciroc, reebok, ace & now dusse

the fact that you don’t want to go state for state says it all really

    ^

    Actually, you’re spinning now.

Hov is a old nigga who, as mentioned, won’t sign a NY nigga.

I’ve already said ASAP. That’s all you got.

And ASAP is wearing dresses and shit. He stole that from Ye and 3 Stacks and no one want to dress like that.

Rick Ross endorses reebok and no one is rocking them shits in real life. Maybe them New York niggas and that says a lot. Ace is from Italy.

And no, New York won’t be irrelevant because that’s where the labels are. So people will migrate there for the deal and big up their own shit.

  22. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

the convo shifts quickly due to niggas getting defensive.

it’s not a question if nyc is relevant in rap music still.

it’s whether they are still juggernauts of the culture at large & they are not.

  23. TS-LTE Says:

nah them asap niggas touch on every region.

south, west coast & midwest. they’re students that got on in their city by using transplanted styles they’ve adopted.

    ^

Now that you’ve mentioned it, I can see it.

  24. Gob Bluth Says:

The power & influence is still there, we may not have as many rappers as before but when you look at it state to state we’re not as bad as people say we are

    far from it infact

NY still contributes a hell of a lot to the culture

  25. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

And ASAP is wearing dresses and shit. He stole that from Ye and 3 Stacks and no one want to dress like that

    > lol true

  26. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

Rick Ross endorses reebok and no one is rocking them shits in real life. Maybe them New York niggas and that says a lot.

    > lol @ bens chopper roll

  27. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

Nigga I’m a veteran at this shit
Use my gat ta self protect me from that muthafuckin’ bullshit

  28. Free J Says:

    basically…

nah them asap niggas touch on every region.

south, west coast & midwest. they’re students that got on in their city by using transplanted styles they’ve adopted.
    ^^^

    this too

    ———

only thing NY contributes at this point IS ciroc…

  29. b Says:

Who you know could give it to you until you fall out
When you wake up – go by the mall out
Hop on the plane sperm or nothing never thawed out
Have her saying my name like Destiny’s Child
    Cause I go all out
Speaking more sex than money so talk with your tongue out
And sex unbelievable, plus the money never run out
I’m a thug so I walk the street with my gun out
Top up when the sun set, top down when the sun out
oh you want me, pushing up your number on the slick
Try to make the scene when I was in front of the click
how bout I pull the thongs off in the summer and shit
Laughing at my joke when it wasn’t even funny and shit
She need a t-mac ms shaq she think that I ball
She know I’m a real nigga, plus she love that I’m tall
Checks again when she missed the phone, thinking I called
She wanna fall for me look, but she think I’m a dog

  30. Free J Says:

shit…NY battle rap does more for NY then all the rappers as a whole. Joey Bada$$ and Bronson runnin with played out styles. i doubt either of them will debut over 80k if they debut while they still have a buzz.

I really cant think of anything new york did recently besides become a topic based off what a west coast good kid said

  31. Gob Bluth Says:

    Stop it TS

Ace is from france & Hov owns a piece if im not mistaken, my point is all those things are promoted by NY artists

    reebok – swiss
    ciroc- diddy
    ace- Hov

none of these things would matter to the culture if they weren’t promoted by these guys

also my original comment was everything that’s happening in Hip hop right now is a variation of something that started in NY & i gave examples

theres a lot of spin going on, but none on my end

  32. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

yo i’ont remember any dudes names from this years xxl freshman class except that angel haze chic & most those were nyc acts.

i remembered ghostface kizza was one but you can hear where he’s been influenced & got his style from. that kizza right there should show you the wyle holding pattern NYC hip hop is in really.

a slovenly white man from NYC is making money sounding like ghostface on records smh
