  20. Casket Face Says:

Serious question, what’s Nah consensus on African-American style?

    Saggin’
    Gold Teeth
    Sneakers
    Bandannas
    Trinidad James
    A$AP

    vs

    Dress shirt
    Tie
    Khakis
    Slacks
    Loafers
    Oxfords

…Should the way some blacks choose to dress sacrifice their character at face value?
Does it bother you? What does African-American style say about our culture? Would we be cultureless without it?

  21. King James Says:

I see the blood on the leaves

  22. &What?! Says:

Getting that combo between street style and ivy league style right is imperative.

The man should style the clothes, the clothes should not style the man..

  24. Casket Face Says:

Nah, Frankie it’s a some light weight shit …I’m actually gettin’ ready to step out and realized I don’t own any sneakers except running shoes.

My wardrobe is mostly business casual…

While I’m checking emails, invoices etc… and Trinidad James image popped up. This nigga is 26 years old, I’m 2-3 years older than him. Yet he dresses like a parody of black culture.

I was thinking, what image does this give off to other people? Everything we do seems to be a reflection of our self-concept and self-worth in society.

Where do we insert ourselves into American life, and where do we draw the line between African-American style and just child like stupidity and irresponsibility?

    imma def say it tonight

  45. Casket Face Says:

Damn, I wasn’t even tryna get deep like that. Just some random thoughts.
Although how a person dresses shouldn’t reflect their character and self worth.
Fact remains that the human mind follows protoypes and scripts though experience.
So if every time a person encounters an angry black person, rapping vulgar lyrics in the street or subway, with an confrontational demeanor dressed a certain way, it’s arbitrarily agreed that that’s how “ghetto” blacks dress.
For me I know that not to be true, two of my best friends hold master degrees and look like thugs some weekends. However they’re very articulate and intelligent.

But that brings me to this, stop and frisks found that NYC has more whites carrying concealed weapons and illegal narcotics than blacks according to statistics.

Yet, the people were dressed conservatively …blacks who were frisked were dressed in “urban wear” and virtually NEVER had anything thing on them illegal.

    What does this mean?

I don’t agree with blacks being at the bottom of social status forever. I just believe we have to figure out how to break free of “day to day” thinking.
Everything with us is “Now, now, now”…that sense of urgency creates a pervasive fear that we’re somehow inadequate and NEED to catch up…I think this is what keeps us in the system.

Which is why someone said I’m aggy or hatin’ on Trinidad James …I hardly am…I’m the first Nahgger to bring up Trinidad. FACT.

But he’s a reflection of Atlanta’s black community, and as his popularity grows so does his sense of fashion. I was simply pointing out everybody can’t be a rapper. What about those who tailor their wardrobe and lifestyle around Trinidad James because it’s “trendy”? …Where does this leave him if he’s not a rapper?

More of social responsibility than anything else.

Enjoy yall weekend though, I’m about to get into some shit, and suppose to be hosting a party at my house tonight…had no idea, fuck it though.

  46. Harlem World: My hoe$ they do drug$ Says:

    enjoy ya philly escapade 00

imma continue to fuel up, no homo

before i go on the lookout for some cool smuts later tonite

  47. V.I Says:

    What does this mean?

    it means they are wannabes.

  48. Harlem World: My hoe$ they do drug$ Says:
