Writer Christopher Bagley spent some time with Kanye in Paris as he was recording Yeezus and the result is a fascinating profile that you’ll find in this month’s issue of W Magazine. The piece offers a rare look at Ye’s creative process and day to day life, even if that life is playing out in a sparsely decorated Paris loft with Kardashians, world class interior designers and Nas dropping in for visits. The piece touches on Kanye’s renewed obsession with design and visual art and his plans to change the world through his influence.
West is not oblivious to his own narcissism. “On one end, I try to scale it back,” he says. “Because I don’t want to close any of the doors needed to create the best product possible. But my ego is my drug. My drug is, ‘I’m better than all you other motherfuckers. Kiss my ass!’ ”
