My pops was a black panther, 7 crown, 5% and NOI …all while doing heroin and cocaine.
But he’d preach all these things to me, Quran, militant shit and what not.
When I got older I denounced all that shit cause he wasn’t around so you grow up hearing “strong black man” this “strong black man” that. But all you see is junkie that don’t take care of his kids and leeched off a schizophrenic black woman.
In a sense I went through life trying to prove all their teaching were false and were to blame for the community because they coddled the black man’s inefficiencies.
That shit fucked my head up…that’s why I teach my kids to be media literate, to absorb information from all sources and draw educated conclusions based on overwhelming facts.
My oldest can tell you EVERYTHING about World War II and how each lost and gain from the war.
