J. Dilla ft. Frank-N-Dank – Anthem
Two new J. Dilla projects coming to fruition on the seventh anniversary of his passing. One on Pay Jay (Jay Dee’s official label) and one through Stones Throw.
“Anthem” and “Trucks” were two of the songs J Dilla recorded in late 2001 and early 2002 as he put the finishing touches on what was supposed to be an album featuring his raps over production by the likes of Madlib, Pete Rock, Nottz, House Shoes, Karriem Riggins and others. These two tracks, however, were produced by Dilla himself.

Related: Stones Throw is also releasing Frank N Dank’s 48 Hours Instrumentals, produced entirely by J. Dilla
Here’s the story: It was 2002. Signed to a solo deal with MCA, whose roster at the time included Common and The Roots, J Dilla spearheaded a project for two of the most unlikely major label emcees: Frank N Dank. In retrospect it’s not hard to understand why the label shelved and eventually dropped the project.

And this is where the disconnect lies with Frank Ocean fans/non fans. The nigga can’t carry a tune, but i’m supposed to be amazed by his music….Nah. Miguel deserved them awards. Frank needs to be added to a long list of talented song writers who need to stay behind the pen and pad. Keri Hilson comes to mind.
^
Cosign but i still find Frank’s music more stimulating [II]

He barely managed to edge into the top 10 with “5′O Clock”, if it wasnt for that he would have never gotten an album out.
