Genuine question, do black people not like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? Cause I thought it was a classic from day one but I hear it get badmouthed all the time round here.

5 mics classic
I can honestly say I love that album
Niggas wanted Yeezy to do soul samples forever – stop @ 5
The nigga is an artist – he did 5 tracks with Bon Iver
When he came to rap shit was so formulaic
He turned the ENTIRE GAME upside down
That album was classic
Cruel Summer wasn’t 5 mics but maybe 4.5 – most music critics said it sounded discombobulated but that’s because kizzas don’t understand that Yeezy brings the streets to the clubs of Paris – it’s not just a sound but a whole lifestyle he created
Yeezy = most influential artist since Pac in terms of trend setting and artistry
Jay, Nas, Big = all great lyricists but didn’t invent something new – they’re all from the Rakim school of spitting super nice but not changing the game stylistically

I’ve felt that Kanye was the greatest of all time for a few years now. Every album he’s released has changed the game forever. Noone else has done that with that kind of consistency. Its funny, his worst album (808s) might be his most influential.

If it’s not Yeezy then it’s Jay.
People who say it’s Em only say it because he sold 200 zillion records.
Take away the sales and all of the sudden it gets cloudy.

You’re not even scratching the surface, 808s opened up room for real people in rap music, not just thug caricatures. (Now playing: Drake – Cameras)
If it’s not Yeezy then it’s Jay.
People who say it’s Em only say it because he sold 200 zillion records.

People tend to forget one reeeeally important thing about Em, he is an awful producer.
February 5th, 2013 at 1:24 pm

Now, Ye doesnt have the bars of a Jay or a BIG thats true. But what he did was show a way to be affecting through rap without using internal rhyme schemes. His verses on “Family Business” and “Through the Wire” are amazing but for reasons you wouldnt use to describe a spectacular Big L verse or whatever.
Also think about Ye’s quality control, nothing in his discography is as bad as say Kingdom Come or Nastradamous.
February 5th, 2013 at 1:30 pm
he aint neva stabbed nobody never was on the block wit a pack no none of that

Exactly! Thats the whole point. Rap cannot stay a closed door business in which you need to have served time on the block or done jail time in order to gain respect. Constantly checking for credentials like that holds rap music back and those barriers are being broken down for the better.
February 5th, 2013 at 1:39 pm
thats where we differ
rap DOES need to stay a closed door business
members only
jus look at the game n all dese faggot niggas runnin round
reality shows niggas simpin whores n smuts
shit is all fucked up
u used to have to be a thoro stand up guy to be a rapper
now dese niggas is ultra feminem and beta
shit is wack
February 5th, 2013 at 1:41 pm
and ya timeline is flawed
college dropout n yay wit the feminen coloroed polos n louie backpack opened the door for thw soft cudis and drakes of the world not 808s
