   I confess that I made the entire thing up.

   I felt the peer pressure of getting ‘ethered’ by Justin Martin of California and had to make up a story.

   In doing so, I concocted an elaborate lie about a friend I met on the internet who, it turns out, never existed.

   I apologize to Notre Dame and of course to the fans and most importantly to my family.

   I want everyone to know that I was sincere in not knowing that this was a false friendship.

   Notre Dame is doing its best to identify the perpetrators of this vicious deception.

   I have no further comment at this time.
