best hov album is the blueprint
the thing is about his albums is you’ll get very different answers from various people regarding their rankings and that’s what makes hov>>>>>>
vol 3 is a personal favorite of mine because I love that grimy hov NY sound
January 15th, 2013 at 5:26 pm
see niggas might say otherwise but I like Kingdom Come because Just Blaze provided the heat and American Gangster is in my top 3 for Hov albums
January 15th, 2013 at 5:28 pm
Best Jigga album? Tough one to call
=====================
HKL Vol 2: . It’s a hustlers album, he is giving you the basic instructions to generate income.
And they way he & Jaz O destroyed that beat is as hip hop as it gets.
Maybe Reasonable Doubt too.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:29 pm
The Blueprint
Reasonable Doubt
American Gangster
Hard Knock Life
Hov and Jaz-O killed that Timbaland beat man that’s vintage Timbo

Prolly the last album in the same vein as Reasonable Doubt until American Gangster.
The perfect balance of street & pop, underground & commercial. I didn’t understand it then but old head Amp sees the science behind it now.
Been listening to it pretty religiously since the new year & for right now, it’s my fave Jay-Z album.
There’s Been A Murder/Come & Get Me >>>>
January 15th, 2013 at 5:29 pm
He bodied Ma$e on Ride or Die. I hate to admit it.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:31 pm
Hov used to say the realist, most street nigga shit over some of the most commercial beats.
BIG started that.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:36 pm
dopeman>>>>>>>>>>>>
hov was killing it
January 15th, 2013 at 5:37 pm
Best – The Blueprint
Worst – Kingdom Come
Where would Jay-Z be without The Blueprint? That brought him into the next century.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:39 pm
Hov was in his prime during the blueprint 2 era
If he saved all the best tracks from that album and made one that would be his best…he was styling on them Neptunes , just blaze, and Ye beats
January 15th, 2013 at 5:43 pm
We held round table meetings
so we could go and discuss
not only money but all the emotions going through us
why we dont cry when niggas die?
thats how the streets raised him
Look in the air, say a prayer hoping God forgave him
Cop liquor, twist it, tap it twice, pour it to the pavement
We live dangerous, often finding ourself in the eyes of strangers
My dream is big and in it my team is rich
as seen through the eyes of a nigga who ain’t seen shit
Back to live action, I’m packing, I’m still in the mix
like new hits, I think I’m going over your head a little bit
But I let you know I changed names when I roam through town
Stay free and be who I’m professional known as now
Jay-motherfucking-Z and wit that said
back to Shawn Carter the hustler, Jay-Z is dead
Hov >
Mike Jordan of the Mic Recordin >
January 15th, 2013 at 5:43 pm
How about this then, whats the worst Jay-Z song?
January 15th, 2013 at 5:44 pm
Reasonable Doubt all the way
January 15th, 2013 at 5:44 pm
I think the in my lifetime remix is the best hov song
January 15th, 2013 at 5:45 pm
Prolly a track off that r.kelly collab album for the worst song
January 15th, 2013 at 5:47 pm
The city is mine was ghost produced by the Neptunes
January 15th, 2013 at 5:47 pm
The only Jigga & Neptunes track that wasn’t great was Anything ft Usher.
One of his worst tracks.
Aside from that, they always have great collabs.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:48 pm
“Young Forever” has got to be the worst Hov song.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:48 pm
Reaz doubt then AmG to me

Imaginary Player >>>
January 15th, 2013 at 5:51 pm
I’ve never heard Sunshine gimmie a sec
*skates off to youtube
January 15th, 2013 at 5:51 pm
In my lifetime IMO is Hov’s worst album
Even though it has one of his best songs with imaginary player and that premo track that switches up
January 15th, 2013 at 5:51 pm
The video was mad funny
January 15th, 2013 at 5:51 pm

Sunshine.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:53 pm
Worst Hov song is Sunshine.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:53 pm
Alright this sucks for sure but I’m stickin to it that Young Forever is worse. Hov’s rhymes are at least on point on Sunshine, Young Forever is Hov at his laziest.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:56 pm
So we livin’ life like a video where the sun is always out
And you never get old and the champagne’s always cold
And the music’s always good
And the pretty girls just happen to stop by in the hood
And they hop their pretty ass up on the hood of that pretty ass car
Without a wrinkle in today ’cause there’s no tomorr’
Just a picture perfect day that lasts a whole lifetime
And it never ends ’cause all we have to do is hit rewind
^^^
Ugh. Hov… why? His flow on the “pretty ass up on the hood of that pretty ass car” is so stunningly clumsy…
January 15th, 2013 at 5:56 pm
In my lifetime IMO is Hov’s worst album

?
That’s one of his best cohesive works.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:58 pm
In My Lifetime sucks cause there are too many songs trying to ride that Bad Boy wave.
Lyrically he never falters but the production & concepts are lacking.
“A Million and One Questions/Rhyme No More” “Imaginary Player” “Where I’m From” “You Must Love Me” >>>>>>>>>>>

If he never made another album besides Uptown Saturday Night, he’d be one of the greats.,
But he fucked around & made Reasonable Doubt too.
LEGENDARY
January 15th, 2013 at 6:00 pm
Nothing’s fucking with reasonable Doubt. You have too much on deck to contend with. As well as the wordplay and ethos he out into that album makes it unique to all albums leading up to it. It’s like a musical prime meridian of sorts. Nothing come out like it before and it surprisingly still holds its weight.
^^^^
As far as Mafioso rap goes, naw I suppose that stands alone but The Blueprint will always go toe to toe with RD.
Lawd let me listen to “Cant Knock the Hustle” while i’m in the back of a Rolls just ONCE IN MAH LIIIIIFE
January 15th, 2013 at 6:01 pm
Young Forever is that drinking Coronas with bitches clad in bikini tops and daisy duke shorts in the park music.
Its suppose to be a lazy, feel good, I’m happy to be young & dumb song…
^^^
That hook is like nails on a chalkboard

I’m twenty. And hov can do that lazy feel good without kicking his lyrical ability in the spleen (See: All I Need, Can I Live). Every element of that song is just awful.
January 15th, 2013 at 6:03 pm
Then actually, believe half of what you see
None of what you hear even if its spat by me

Nah.
There’s a paranoia, a sense of depression, a fatalistic outlook on life that RD has that’s missing from The Blueprint.
He was already a star when he made The Blueprint.
Things weren’t so certain with RD. It was his one & perhaps only shot to make his mark in this rap shit.
And what a mark it was.

You’re definitely right about that paranoia missing from The Blueprint, but I mean quality wise the two are pretty evenly matched.
Personally, The Blueprint > Reasonable Doubt but I could see it both ways.

I’m not even talking mafioso raps. I’m talking like that album is Jay reasoning with his conscience. Trying to convince himself that the life he chose wasn’t his decision, but rather the contempt from being without and wanting in. See: Politics As Usual / D’evils / Regrets;
It’s so much more than mob wannabe rap. It’s the Phoenix that rises from broken minds. Those are them niggas most inner feelings duke. And that’s Hov conveying that shit with a top notch performance.
^^^
Sheeeet I’m being convinced that I need to get into Reasonable Doubt again…
On anther note, Hov has had his bad albums, but he has never. Ever. Made an album as abysmal as Nastradamus *shudder*
