Merely mentioned to support my notion of “welcomed change” that is Joey.
^
joeys good. but he needs to find a sound.
the disappointing thing about rocky is hte niga found a fresh sound but he can’t rap.
like who really wants to hear rocky spit besides bitches really and young niggas caught in the hype. i think NY is kinda hesitant to crown him as the nigga thats bringing the city back.
if joey can bring that from the pavement new york flow and pair it with some fresh beats i think he good. but for right now its jsut nostalgia rap

i think there’s a good balance right now the mainstream radio just sucks
There are a plethora of lanes for whatever suits ur taste all u have to do is find it
Alotta ppl still eatin sans any real talent
However the rap game is severely over saturated there are more rappers than fans these days
^
all of this
wheter u like that mf doom madlib type shit or that idiotic troll damn i forgot the white bul name oh yeah riff raff shit
thers something for everybody
and with the internet you have no excuse for bitchin bout there being no real music
shit is out there
January 14th, 2013 at 2:43 pm
if Joey Badass doesnt pop this winter, when traditional rap is at its peak, his mainstream career you can call it a wrizzy, nobody tryna hear those beats in the summer, hell even spring.

meaning if the big dog Hov gets behind his movement, hops on a song with him. He’s outta here.
Jay, and Jay alone has the capacity to change the direction of music. Not saying he should, but that is the kinda power he yields.
^
but that begs the question what is success? j.cole got that cosign and shit and he’s making millions but who really gives a fuck about him? hes not relevant at all.
hip hop is interntational, plus white ppl will always love to watch black ppl perform – its in their dna or some shit – and theres a lot of them (white ppl and ppl around the world) so a lot of rappers can and do eat.
but in terms of being a memorable part of the culture. i think it takes more than a cosign.

^ I agree. But he is only a cosign away.

I miss music videos. I really do. The iconic imagery of yesteryear is what cemented the legacies of some of our favorite albums.
Nas crouched on the hood of some German engineering marvel, fresh suede Wally’s, draped in the neon radiance of Times Square.
continue….

^ J.cole played the middle, relevant to both lyrical extremist, and dance along poppy niggas. But a true underground artist getting the co from hov will fuck up a lotta niggas following trends right now.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:54 pm
These new rappers need better visuals to help the listening public realize their stories. Like Wu-Tang without the masks and the fangs and random trashcans exploding in the background in slow motion just doesn’t have the same impact.

This is true, but that aint makin $$$.
Repitivive chants/ choruses/ base thumpin beats is what gets continuous spins. Or house/electro.
Backpack rap has their own minor league lane and thats where it’ll stay.
AAA baseball players, still consummates as a professional no?

Whoo-Ha!
Now that’s how you kick off a solo career. Visually? The patent leather J’s & matching parka? Fisheye lens everything?
Yo….
But then to come right back with the “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” vid. Smh.
We were so spoiled.
January 14th, 2013 at 3:01 pm
there’s thousands of niggas home right now, formulation their approach, their come up. Watching videos with the most views, getting the image together based on the niggas that’s eating right now.
But an iconic nigga can stop all that with one song. All the DJ’s will hop on, radio stations, MTV BET…
Say word if Hov, Nas, and Kanye did an album over Premo, Alchemist, Rza, Pete rock production – it wouldnt turn a proverbial corner in hip hop?
January 14th, 2013 at 3:02 pm
But why you guys wanna go back tho ?
I’m trying to find out what’s next

Radio would have no choice but to hop on.

I’m sorry but it will never be the 90s again
And I don’t want it to be
” I ain’t trying to be stagnated ”
Shits gone stale, we need something new not old
Hip-hop needs a new story

I mean, theoretically, it might.
but that’s like asking Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson to come out from behind the broadcasting studio tables, and suit up again…so that basketball could turn a “proverbial corner.”
they onto new ventures, in new seasons of their life. MJ isn’t a hungry player anymore…he’s in the boardrooms, in the exec offices, etc.
it’s up to one of the new faces to carry the torch and turn the corner. Hov and Kanye and Nas aren’t and shouldn’t be interested in it anymore, in my opinion.

^ fair question. We lost something along the way, its only natural you go back to retreive it.
Think of it like this. The times you go to the fridge to get something, open the door and forget what you were gonna get. Well more than likely you go back to where the thought was concieved, and there you will find what you forgot.
