Trouble man and onifc too

Rocky’s album grew on me. I couldn’t grasp it on a cursory listen. Long.Live.A$AP is an album that really requires you to sit with it for a few hours & in the age of the iPod/mp3 player & new tracks released all the time, that’s extremely hard & requires alot of active listening & discipline from the listener.
There are still some epic reaches on there, shit that’s blatantly geared toward the Pitchfork/The Fader crowd, but as a whole, Rocky did his thing & put together something impressive that doesn’t really sound like anything else out there. It’s a time capsule of the era.
I just wish the “Pretty Flacko (RMX)” coulda made the final tracklisting. Shit goes hoard.

Thoughts on hologram panda?
^^^^
Not recieving nearly enough pub.
It’s the evolution of Jody Highroller from clown/novelty rapper into something a little more serious to consider.
He’ll never be Nas but I can actually play Hologram Panda in front of the homies & not feel totally embarrassed lol.
“Got Them Mad” & “Chop A Rock” have been my shit for a couple weeks now. RiFF RaFF’s hook game is getting better & better.
WHY DON’T MORE RAPPERS GET DAME GREASE BEATS???? WTF?
Trouble Man is solid, even if all the coke talk gets to be a bit much, since we know Tip ain’t really living that life no more. But the focus on lyrics & the admission of his last album being half assed is a positive. Lacks the crossover hits of Paper Trail but there’s an energy in Tip’s delivery that I’m glad to see again.”Sorry” hits me hard for some reason. I get emotional about music & that song strikes a chord with me every time.
ONIFC doesn’t have the replayability I thought it would. Still a great album to smoke a bowl to, but I don’t think it’s the crowning achievement it could’ve been. A little repetitive topically but the beats are >>>>>

Trouble man and asap links? Anybody?

BTW – Max B woulda bodied all those Grease beats on Hologram Panda. The whole tape wreaks of The Wave.

Yellow Album is dope but there’s one vibe throughout.
Trouble Man ebbs & flows. There’s different moods & emotions on there & the lyricism is way more intricate. It’s a fuller, more well rounded experience.
Reloaded is cool but it’s not gonna reach the same audience or connect with people on the same level as a Trouble Man or a good kid, M.A.A.D city, simply because Marc ain’t really saying shit. He’s just finding inventive ways to say nothing. Kinda like ASAP Rocky, but a lot less flashy flow wise.

It’s all style over substance.
Neither one of them niggas are saying anything poignant.
“trouble man has no replay value man
urban legend SHITS on trouble man”
Urban Legend has a good three song run in the front end but it’s far from Tip’s best album.
And replay value? I listen to some songs on Trouble Man just to hear the skits.
“That ain’t my weed panna, thas yo’ shit…fuck dat shit!”

Good album that won’t reach many outside of the Tri-State….or in the Tri-State for that matter.
Marc is an East Coast Freddie Gibbs, a throwback to a storied era.
But where are the gems????

Nah, that’s that Big Boi album.

^^^
He was on The Stoned Immaculate twice.
And lets be honest, Spitta ain’t helping no one sell any records.
Neither is Akon, but white people seem unaware that he fell off in ’09.
“Rise Above”, “The Bluff”, “It’s Nothing”, “The Plan”, “Remember You”, “Fall Asleep”….this is all prototypical Wiz.
I don’t know what y’all wanted from this album cause it delivered as advertised IMO.

Wiz always kicked common knowledge disguised as a gem or an affirmation. But his shit never really stuck to the ribs the way a Spitta verse does.
Wiz makes catchy, hooky songs that burrow into your brain & refuse to leave like the shit Khan put in Chekov’s ear in Star Trek II.
I think ONFIC has enough of those kinda joints not to be a total disappointment.
When Rolling Papers Part Deux is the alternative, you’d think cats would be satisfied with what they got.
It’s not an album formatted for urban radio but there are some joints on there.

I gotta give the Asap album (cause that shit leaked in 2012) the crown on this one. It’s like the inverse of the Kendrick album. There is no concept, just dude going through a litany of other rappers flows and cadences (from ODB, to Kanye, to Bone) to name dropping more than Game.
From the pointless screw music, to the pointless dubstep, to the weird as Fashion killa, (her gun goes bang bang bloop bloop pop pop shit). I mean the production is cool and all but are we really giving rappers a pass for A&Ring now?
