The nas album is water in the desert. look. i’m a be real if this had been any other of those frisbees he’s produced since It Was Written, with the 2 or 3 singles on it and the mafiosio gun talk tracks and the hot producer tracks, i would still be disappointed in the god but not as much.
but untitled was different. that shit had me actually listening to nas again. overall it was still a weak album but i was proud of him for going there. but turns out he didn’t really go there, he just liked the idea of going there then he hired some other niggas to hold his hand through the process so he could run around in a nigger shirt and shock the world.
nas lost my respect a lil bit and if yall are really honest he lost some of yalls respect to. just that some of us direct that anger at nas and other direct it at defending him

I just think it’s disingenuous to say he hired someone else to do the album or whomever held his hand. Large Pro has a penchant for exercising a heavy hand editing and whatnot when he produces for Nas, but that doesn’t make the songs not Nas’ own.
All it is is about trying to tap into a level of authenticity. He wanted to do a NIGGER album, and dead prez just so happens to specialize in that lane of music. I just really don’t see why building with those dudes to try and realize the vision you had is so terrible.

so now you have credible industry individuals – one who had a phone call with JE and another who heard 6 refrernce tracks. both of them were disappointed after hearing what they heard. that tells me that the help that nas received was more than just helping bouncing ideas. it tells me that JE and stic basically drew the picture and nas traced over it. that’s the impression that i’m getting. of course i got no issue with niggas collabing in the studio. but dream and fwmj would not have been disappointed, they wold not have let this info fly in the way they did if it had just been run of the mill collaborations…common sense tells me that.
