There’s a reason why rappers who talk about their money and possessions sell a lot of records. It’s aimed at suburban kids with successful parents. It makes them(suburban kids) feel good to listen to some “hood shit” while they’re riding in their uncle’s beamer, but at the same time that talks about the nice watches, the nice cars, the nice cribs, the louis vuittons this, and the channel that, because it’s all relative to what they see everyday. Trips to St Tropez ect ect…. Rap went pop in the mid 90s, and even more pop in the 2000′s. Most new york rappers kept it real, and stuck to their roots. I applaud them for doing that. Unfortunately, the most they sell is between 50k to 100k, while 50 cent and Jay Z sell millions to white kids in rich neighborhoods.
Will you join the dark side and sell your soul to sony and interscope? or will you stay in the light and keep making art?

LMAO Double 0.
I one some real shit family. I said this a thousand times bro. I grew up heating up snow on kerosene heaters because the pipes froze up in the winter time.
Literally eating oatmeal for breakfast/ lunch/ dinner. Sometimes rice. We were homeless, living in moms car because the bank repossessed the house for 2 months. I remember vividly moms coming home and breaking all the dishes because the bank seized the house and her telling me nothing matters anymore because she can’t keeping on. We cried each other to sleep on the same floor she broke the dishes on and moved all our shit to a storage room the next day.
I was in HS taking showers at 6am on the coach’s good merit so I wouldn’t be the stanky nigga in I.B. classes that everyone look down on. I swear it’s only by the grace alone that I wasn’t a nigga corrupted b. I was working 50+ hours a week in HS advanced classes. One of my teachers called DCFS on us. We got the house back in time to beat the case.
There is a reason why Langston Hughes “Mother To Son” Poem means a lot to me. Shit wasn’t easy.
So now, when I say, “Life Is Good”, I really mean that shit. You don’t know the half of what happened to me growing up in Chicago. On the South-side. Not to knock you life growing up bro, we prolly had the equal hardships. But like NaS said, “the craziest things in life already happened to me. So either you laughing at me or you laughing with me.”
Life Is Good.
And Strange.

Nas stans ruining it for me.
Seems his fans are happy that he released and album in proper time with a few quality cuts.
Congrats! Ten plus years and now Nas has done what other competent artist do every year.
Chill…

No album of the year candidate.
Any album consider the best of 2012 is only because it was released.
Not because it hit shelfs and blew peoples minds.

You came in saying hip-hop fell off and there are no AOR contenders even tho you WONT EVEN LISTEN TO THE ALBUM
SO you tell me – who’s “killing the thread”

I said it before, and I must mention it again. Nas is real nice. Granted. But that Queens Story track, the producer mixes Chopin’s Etude op10 no12 in it. I thought that was pretty awesome. Classical music is beautiful, and I love hearing it mixed with hiphop. Good shit. Impressive. Nas’ producers know their music.
