In a lot of ways, the fear that your core fan base will not grow with you keeps people “consistent”– in some ways, Sean P (using your example) KNOWS that attempting to expand would crush the fans he was able to keep by going solo, and that would fuck up his money.

To juxtapose, think about how long it took Kanye to “experiment” with his sound… if he woulda dropped MBTDF as College Dropout, Dame’s vision of having Camron on every track woulda came true.
