I came to the sad conclusion that most Black kids in the hood got no chance in life and we need to destroy + rebuild to be able to get those kids on equal footing to have an equal shot with the rest of society.
By the grace of Allah, I ate home cooked meals, had loving parents who were very strict on academics, and had a safe environment to study in. My parents fought, they wasn’t rich, and they was mad harsh on us, but I had more than enough to flourish as a grown up.
These kids in the hood man, smh. Processed snack foods as meals. Barely know their mom, never knew their pops. No male role models, no encouragement. No culture of achievement. Shit is just disgusting. Between college and law school I tutored kids on the south side (deep south – Wil’ Hunnits) and man, I never seen such depressing shit. Kids in 8th grade reading worser than how I read at age 3 and a half. Sorry but how is that 8th grader gonna ever catch up?
All the PJ’s need to get tore down, all public housing must be scattered among wealthy enclaves, all schools must be brought in line equally, and school days should be much, much longer.
All schools should serve three hot meals a day and include physical education. Snacks should be fruit, nuts, and natural juices. for kids from tough environments, this will create an attachment between the kids and the schools and will foster their success.
It will come to pass in my lifetime because you can come to the Chi and see that people is fed up. They not gonna accept living in death camps. Something gotta give.

Not at all, but I do want to have some interview experience before I’m ready to commit to the move. I might be in the DC-Area for another 2-3 years until the job and housing market (hopefully) stabilize a bit, then make my escape back down south or to a more rural area so my kids can chill.
