Especially when modern thought (in their time) was heavily sanctioned by church and state to play off of stories past and not project great intellectual reasoning outside of ones faith.
Not until Cartes show up on the scene and changed the way were and the modern world thinks about things now.
I said that to say this, Shake-Shake wasn’t as great a writer as people make him out to be. He did a good job working, reworking, and plagiarizing a LOT of shit that came before him and his peers.
