I also know that that the differences between reality and music are often blurred to the point of our youth not knowing the difference– I see this every day and experience how REAL they take some of these rappers lives.
The entertainment component has been driven almost completely to the wayside in an attempt to reach the lowest common denominator, which unfortunately happens to be our children.
The question is, when we had an active chance to force change, we instead embraced the street elements of our music and allowed those in charge (who look nothing like us) to become gatekeepers for our culture– so how do we get that power back?

As little as 20 years ago “casual fridays” was frowned upon and overall not encouraged..now in the average workplace casual everydays exist.

Kids are just really shitty at expressing their emotions, and parents are even worse at handling them.
also, parents get too occupied with telling kids what to think instead of how to think, so when they get into a situation that doesn’t jibe with what they’ve learned all their life (which is inevitable in school with a hundred other kids who are equally as different, poorly taught, & shitty at expressing themselves) they don’t know how to deal.
critical thinking skills are lacking across the board.
